2. To service the doorlock, you must remove theinside door panel. First,slide the armrest cushionback towards the rear ofthe car and remove.

3. Remove the three Phillips head screws that were hidden under the armrest cushion.

4. The plastic trim coverfor the door control unit isheld in place by snaps.Gently unsnap it.

8. There are two 10mmnuts that hold in thehandle/lock assembly.Remove the nuts anddisconnect the lockcylinder linkage rod.

9. Lift out the bottom section of the handle to gain accessto the retaining clip for the door lock cylinder.

10. Lift the retainingclip out of the creviceand push the cylinderfrom the front, out ofthe handle assembly

11. Disconnect theswitch sensor fromthe lock sensor byremoving the phillipshead screw.

13. The code number isstamped on the passenger side

lock tailpiece. The last 4numbers is the code. The code

series runs from 0001-6001.Only the first two thousand

have been published. Todisassemble the lock you willhave to remove the tailpiece.

19. If the alarm has beentriggered, the trunk releaseswitch will still operate, evenwith the alarm going off. Thereis an “ON/OFF” switch in theglove box that controls thetrunk release switch on thedriver’s door panel.

20. The cloth-like liner must be either removed orpulled back to get to the trunk lock. The fastenersare plastic and can be unscrewed for removal.

30. If you do not have aworking key, you can stillremove the cylinder plug.On the side with the drain

hole, you will have todepress the tumblers to

slide out the cylinderfurther.

34. Open the glove box and unhook the two string-like limit lines.

35. Now you can lower the glove box door and remove the two hinge screws that hold the glove box door to the dash.

37. Once you haveremoved the glovebox door, there are 16screws that hold theglove box door unittogether. Removethose screws.Remove the screwsthat hold the lockassembly to the doorand disconnect thelinkage rod.

Making First KeyMethod #1: Check the code in the glove box to see if it

is one of the published ones. Method #2: If possible, remove the trunk lock,

disassemble, and decode. Otherwise remove the doorcylinder, disassemble, and decode. The door and trunklock cylinders contain all the necessary cuts.

NotesA high-security key machine is required. H/S space &

depth keys are also needed. MACS is: 2There is a code on the passenger door lock, but only

the first two thousand codes have been published.

Valet FunctionThe valet key is missing the center groove that is

found on the master key, thus preventing it fromentering the trunk lock and glove box lock.

Coed Series0001-6001, Infiniti 4-track, high-security. You must

have a high security key machine and space & depthguide keys.

Facts to Remember1. If the factory alarm has been set off, the electronic

trunk release will still operate. The electronic trunkrelease button is on the driver’s side door panel. Thereis an “On/Off” switch in the glove box for the operationof the trunk release switch on the door panel.

2. Making a key to the trunk or door lock will giveyou a complete key.

3. No tumblers are numbered.4. All Infiniti Q45 tumblers are split tumblers.5. The valet key is missing the necessary center groove

that would otherwise allow it to enter the trunk andglove box lock.

6. The parts department of the dealer can get the keycode for the car by entering the VIN into their nationalhook up. It’s just whether they want to or not.

7.Only the first two thousand codes have beenpublished out of the whole code series.

8. The ignition lock does not have an active retainer.The complete assembly must be removed for servicing.
