Ph.D ADMISSION NOTICE Online applications are invited from pass outs of the Department of Food Science and

Technology, University of Kashmir, Srinagar and from approved Research Organizations/ Academic Institutes/ Industries/ Departmental sponsored candidates, having secured 65% marks in the qualifying examination for admission to the Ph.D Programme in Food Science & Technology (Session 2013-14).

The details regarding eligibility and the procedure are available on the official website of the University of Kashmir, Srinagar. The admission to the Ph.D Program in Food Science & Technology shall be granted strictly on the basis of marks obtained in the written test and qualifying examination carrying 70 and 30 marks respectively and subject to the availability of seats in the Department. The eligibility criteria and the procedure for applying can be accessed on the official website of the University of Kashmir (www.kashmiruniversity.net – Quick links M.Phil/Ph.D Statutes).

The application is to be submitted online w.e.f 10-12-2013 by clicking on the link “M.Phil/Ph.D.2013” on the official website of the University (www.kashmiruniversity.net). The autogenerated application form and Bank pay-in-slip are to be downloaded and their printout taken, who in turn shall deposit an application fee of Rs 250/- under account No.SB -53049, in any of the FINACLE Branches of J&K Bank. The autogenerated application form alongwith the University copy of the Pay-in-Slip and relevant certificates shall be received in the office of the concerned Department by or before 27th December, 2013.

Besides, candidates having appeared in their qualifying examination, the result of which is awaited, can also submit their application form, which shall be accepted purely on provisional basis. An affidavit duly sworn in before the 1st Class Magistrate shall accompany such application form/s to the effect that they shall be appearing in the Entrance Test on their own risk and responsibility.

The date for the conduct of Entrance test shall be notified separately.

Srinagar, Dec 7: Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad was today elected as Pres-ident, Kashmir Chamber of Com-merce and Industries (KCCI). At its 79th Annual General Meeting (AGM) here today, the KCCI declared the results of its recently held Executive Commit-tee 2013-14 elections and elected new office bearers. Outgoing president KCCI Abdul Hameed Punjabi declared the results of the elections and felicitated the new body. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani was elected as senior vice-president and Javid Ahmad Bhat as junior

vice-president. To the post of General Sec-retary, Syed Musadiq Shah was elected while Faiz Ahmad Bakshi got the post of joint gen-eral secretary. Dr Gazala Amin, the lone female candidate was elected to the post of treasurer. Besides the office bearers, the candidates who will form the next executive committee include: Altaf Ahmad Tramboo, Mauzam Bakshi, Nazir Ahmad Wani, Ashfaq Siddiq Dug, Fayaz Ahmad Punjabi, Muzaffar Majid Jan, Sheikh Zahoor Ahmad, Prof A. R. Khan, Gowhar Maqbool, Nasir Hamid Khan, Parveez

As many as 50 candidates had been in the fray for different posts, out of which 19 were today declared to have been elected as members to the executive committee and among them the members elected the office bearers. In his address, the newly elected president said that the new body would strive to con-struct KCCI House at Rajbagh which had been its long pending dream.

A mechanical engineer by qualification from MS Ramaya College Bangalore, Sheikh Ashiq started his professional career in late 1990s with internship from the New Delhi office Alfred Hilbert, an MNC. He subsequently got a job offer in Riyadh where he worked for two years. He returned homeland and joined his brother to help in the business which grew into Alkhuddam Group of Companies which deals in handicraft exports, tourism and travel business. Alkhuddam, having business outlets globally at places like Germany, Dubai, Singapore and US, is a lead-ing carpet exporter in India. Some three years ago, he joined the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) and made it to the Executive Body. And after a yearlong tenure as Senior Vice Presi-dent KCCI, Ashiq was Satur-day elected as the President.

Srinagar, Dec 7: Of the eight KCCI mem-bers who Friday alleged mass rigging and proxy voting in Kashmir Inc elections, four have surprisingly made it to the executive committee. The ‘estranged’ members who have been elected to the executive committee include: Nazir Ahmad Wani, Mauzam Bakshi, Prof A. R Wani and Sheikh Zahoor Ahmad. Curiously these members along with other four members had alleged that there was mass rigging in the voting of the KCCI. A day before the election results were scheduled to be announced these members had issued a statement alleging that they had evidence of mass rigging in the elec-tions. The other four estranged members includ-ed Syed Niaz Shah, Chowdhary Muhammad Shahid, Sheikh Gowhar Ali and Fayaz Ahmad Ahanger. “We have evidence that the election was rigged and proxy votes were cast by some contestants,” they had said in a statement. “We urge all the members of KCCI to take

a stand and not let few unscrupulous elements in the chamber ruin this prestigious organiza-tion. Those who rig the elections cannot be business leaders and it will set a bad prece-dence,” they had said. According to KCCI insiders the four mem-bers who have made it to the executive com-mittee have secured good percentage of votes. “This itself nullifies their claim of rigging,” they said. However, the elected members today reit-erated their stand despite being elected in the executive committee. “We have taken a stand and we standby it, getting elected in the executive committee won’t change our statement that elections of chamber were rigged and even the scrutiniz-ers have given adverse report ,” said Nazir Ahmad Wani, former senior vice president, who has been elected now as EC member. “We are responsible persons and our posi-tion is clear that riggers cannot be business leaders,” Wani said. Muazzam Bakshi said: “Despite being elected in the executive committee I have dissociated myself from the chamber and have also conveyed my message to the chamber .”
