VERSATILE AND ACCURATE SEED SINGULATION

The Case IH Advanced Seed Meter (ASM) elevates planting to a higher level with its distinctive design andunequaled advantages. This revolutionary vacuum meterclearly outperforms competitive offerings, giving you theability to achieve greater profit potential.

CROP VERSATILITY. The ASM accurately meters allvarieties of corn and soybeans as well as most types ofsugar beets, peanuts, cotton, edible beans, sorghum andsunflowers. No other seed meter offers so much versatility!

METERING ACCURACY. The ASM singulates seedwith unequaled accuracy for more effective populationcontrol. This is due to three exclusive features:

The ASM uses the largest diameter field corndisk in the industry, and therefore has more seedcells than any other disk (48 vs. 30 holes or 12 fingers). The large number of cells allows the seed disk to turnmore slowly (as much as four times more slowly), even at higher field speeds, for slower seed release and, therefore, better accuracy.

The ASM field corn disk is flat, with no individualseed pockets that can tumble seed. The seed issimply held to the flat side of the disk by a high vacuum.(With pocket-style disks, research has shown that seedmust first tumble out of the pocket and then fall down the tube. Each seed tumbles out differently than the next, leading to spacing inaccuracies. With the ASMseed disk, seed only travels in one direction... straightdown the seed tube and into the seed furrow for more accurate placement.)

Skips and doubles are virtually eliminated thanks tothe patented three-spool seed singulation.

ASM uses a patented system with three spoolsto singulate on each side of the seed.

5

Changing seed types or crops is easy with the ASM.A clean-out door on the backside can be easilyreached from the left side of each row unit.

PLANTING SIMPLICITY. Changing seed hybrids is a whole lot easierwith the ASM, compared to other meters. That’s because the ASM does notrequire bothersome seed disk changes or tedious vacuumtweaks. For example, due to the large diameter, when you are planting fieldcorn, one seed disk and one vacuum setting are recommended for all fieldcorn sizes and shapes [33 lbs. (15 kg) to 66 lbs. (30 kg) /80,000 seed bagof corn]. There’s no need to check the operator’s manual and make changesif your seed company gives you an alternate seed size or grade; the metersettings remain the same year after year.

The innovative ASM design also offers another timesaving advantageduring planting: Whenever you need to change the seed type or crop,a convenient clean-out door makes the process quick and easy.Just open the door and let any remaining seed flow into a bucket.

MAINTENANCE SIMPLICITY. The ASM is considerably less complexthan the finger meters you’ll find on other planters. The ASM requires nocalibration while competitive finger meters require yearly inspection at asubstantial expense. Featuring a streamlined design with far fewer parts, the ASM requires less upkeep – which translates into more uptime.

The ASM performs very well when metering treated seeds whichcan sometimes pose serious problems for other meters. Additional graphitemay be required for accurately metering seeds that have a high rate ofinsecticide treatment.

HIGHER PRODUCTIVITY. Cover more acres while still maintainingprecision placement. The ASM, because of its unique design, is capable ofaccurately metering seeds at faster planter operating speeds compared tocompetitive meters. Due to this advantage, many growers are able to increasetheir productivity in the field by increasing their operating speed.*

ASM seed disks rotate more slowly than competitivedisks, thus minimizing spacing inaccuracies.

...COMBINED WITH FASTER PLANTING CAPABILITY

The Case IH seed tube also contributes to greateraccuracy at higher speeds. It is composed of a specialpolymer compound that reduces seed ricochet.

* IMPORTANT NOTE: Planting speed must always be determined according to field conditions. If the row units are notmaintaining a constant depth, the operator should slow down. If the row units are not exhibiting “row unit hop” and aconstant planting depth is being maintained, planting speeds are appropriate for existing conditions.

PROVEN EFFECTIVE IN THE FIELD

“With no change in settings from one rowto the next, and with different seed sizes andweights in each box, planting accuracy wasthere!... our hats are off to everyone at Case IHinvolved in designing this phenomenal planter.”

- Kim Robertson, LG Seeds

“In comparing the finger pickup meter to theCase IH, the Case IH shows improvementin accuracy of seed drop regardlessof seed size, as planting speeds increaseto 5.5 mph and above.”

- Tony Beck, Beck’s Hybrids

“A simple metering system is required thatmakes planting a number of hybrids andseed sizes very easy. All sizes andshapes of corn seed we tested from30 to 70 pound per 80,000 kernels could beaccurately dropped with one disk andone vacuum setting. Congratulations toCase IH for a great new planter!”

PROVEN EFFECTIVE IN AN INDEPENDENT STUDY:Pioneer Hi-Bred investigated the seed size plantability ofthe Case IH Advanced Seed Meter. Ten seed sizes wereevaluated, using over 200 different corn hybrids. All ofthe test runs were accurate to 99.8% of the 1,000 seedtarget, regardless of seed size.

Hybrid selection should be based on geneticperformance not seed size!

Seed size will vary by hybrid, female parent tendencies, growing conditions, and seed set in production fields. The Case IH 1200 Series planter lets you select theappropriate corn hybrid for each field and not worryabout seed size availability or time-consuming adjustmentsto the seed meters.

*Note: Based on Syngenta NK N59-Q9 hybrid. For any given hybrid, seed sizeavailability changes each year depending on several seed production factors.

7

FREEDOM FROM SEED SIZE RESTRICTIONS

Choose field corn hybrids based on genetic potential, seed quality and price – not seed size, which willvary by hybrid, female parent tendencies, and growingconditions. Pocket-style seed disks and finger pickupmeters are sensitive to those variances and are limitedin their adaptability.

In comparison, ASM field corn disks are flat (have nopockets) to accommodate different seed sizes. For example, when you are planting corn with the ASM,you can select the appropriate corn hybrid for each fieldwithout worrying about seed size availability. In fact, just one corn disk handles everything from very small toextra large.

The Case IH ASM lets you take advantage of seed sizesthat, while genetically equivalent, other planters can’thandle well. Deliver superior agronomic seed placement withdiscounted seed sizes.

Example:

Farm: 1,500 Acres of CornPopulation: 30,000 Seeds/AcreSeeds Per Bag: 80,000Acres Planted Per Bag: 2.7 (560 Bags for 1,500 Acres Corn)

Typical seed discount for plateless seed sizes: $10 per bag

$10/bag savings x 560 bags/yr = $5,600 annual savings!

OPTIMIZED SEED BED CONDITIONS

The Case IH Early Riser row unit optimizes seed bedconditions to allow earlier, more uniformemergence and, therefore, achieves higheryield potential.

The difference between the Early Riser and other rowunits is evident in the design: distinctive features offersignificant and unrivaled agronomic advantages.

SUPERIOR SEED-TO-SOIL CONTACT. In afew simple steps (pictured below), the Early Riser row

unit delivers an ideal combination of furrow formationand furrow closing for ideal seed-to-soil contact. This ensures faster, more consistent germination...and earlier, more uniform emergence.

In fact, Case IH agronomists have documented that theEarly Riser row unit provides emergence that is oftentwo to three days earlier than that of competitivemodels. This jumpstart at the beginning of the growingseason can have a profound impact on your season-endprofit potential!

UNIFORM DEPTH CONTROL ensures uniformemergence. The Early Riser row unit is equipped withequalizing gauge wheels that “walk” over residue andclods to maintain uniform placement depth. The secret to their superb performance is the way inwhich they are driven: These wheels are pulled – notpushed like gauge wheels on other planters – therebymaking the row unit more stable. Instead of beingpushed into obstacles, it easily rides up and over them. This is especially true at faster speeds or in adversefield conditions.

8

Narrow 10.5-degree offset doubledisk openers slice through residueand penetrate hard soils to createa narrow seed furrow withminimal sidewall compaction.(Competitors use a wider14-degree nose-to-nose designthat causes more sidewallcompaction, which can delayseed emergence.)

“Walking beam” gauge wheelsmaintain uniform seeding depthand placement, even in fields withheavy residue, rocks and clods.Gauge wheels are also designedwith a soil retention groove tocapture moist soil from the furrow, which is eventually returned tothe furrow by the closing system.

The furrow firming point definesthe sides and bottom of theseed furrow for a calibratedand accurate seed depth. Thisprevents loose soil from creatinga false bottom, which can leadto inaccurate seed depth.

A V-shaped seed tube centers theseed into perfect position at thebottom of the furrow. The tubeis made of a special materialthat reduces ricochet – andprevents inaccurate seedplacement.

Inverted closing disks fill thefurrow from both sides. In doingso, they move the loose, moistsoil (that was captured by gaugewheel soil retention grooves)closest to the seed in the bottomof the seed furrow.

A wide press wheel gently firmssoil over the furrow for optimalseed-to-soil contact, leaving acrust-breaking chevron patternthat speeds emergence.

SIX STEPS TO BETTER SEED BED CONDITIONS

Page 9: 1200 SERIES ADVANCED SEED METER PLANTERS ... innovative ASM design also offers another timesaving advantage during planting: Whenever you need to change the seed type or crop, a convenient

9

IMPROVED PRODUCTIVITY

Exclusive zero-indexed depth control savestime. By “zeroing out” the depth control on the EarlyRiser row unit, you can be sure that all rows will be setaccurately and consistently. This means you can saveup to 70 percent of the normal adjustment time thatis needed for other planters. No other row unit offersthis feature!

Minimized bouncing allows fasteroperation. The Early Riser row unit’sequalizing gauge wheels not only ensure evenemergence, they also allow faster operation –even in adverse field conditions. By avoidingthe sluggish bouncing motion that is typicalof traditional push-style row units, you canmove faster and cover more acres.

The depth control adjustment handle makes settingplanting depth an easy one-hand operation.

The Early Riser row unit works intandem with the Advanced SeedMeter to help you make the mostof the short planting season.

9

CASE IH EARLY RISER ROW UNIT

Patented Case IH equalizing gauge wheels hold therow-unit weight away from the furrow to eliminatesidewall compaction. The soil retention grooves alsoallow moist soil to be captured alongside the top ofthe seed trench so the disk closing system can thenreturn it on top of the seed.

Proven Early Riser press wheels provide uniform soildistribution over the seed bed area. (Press wheelson competitive row units typically produce a moreconcentrated, emergence-inhibiting soil surface.)

Solidly built to withstand tough, No-till conditions, the Early Riser row unit resists side draft and other

twisting forces that can slow down and wearout other row units.

PLANT STRAIGHTER ROWS WITH EASE

Case IH Advanced Farming Systems were firstintroduced in 1998 and have proven to bestable, reliable and, above all, accurate. TheCase IH AFS AccuGuide™ AutoguidanceSystem, shown here, delivers precisionsteering to Case IH MX Series Magnum™

and STX® Series Steiger® tractors. CombiningGlobal Positioning System (GPS) technologywith exclusive Case IH AccuGuide technology, the AFS AccuGuide system automaticallydirects your tractor in open fields to producearrow-straight rows.

The advantages are multifold. Maximizeyour effectiveness in the field by

concentrating less on your tractor andfocusing more on your planter. Reduce

gaps and overlaps, minimizing thecosts associated with wasted inputs

and optimizing your plantedacres. Control traffic

patterns to reduce theeffects of compaction,

which can also affect yield. Eliminate the guess-work of row-to-row spacing to ensure that each plantgets its fair share of water, nutrients and sunlight.Decrease stress and fatigue by letting this systemhandle the steering for you.

Choose from three different AFS AccuGuide systems:DGPS (Differential GPS); DGPS HP (Differential GPSHigh Performance), which provides more accuracy;or RTK (Real Time Kinematics), which provides thehighest level of accuracy [typically +/- 1 in. (25 mm)].For more information on these options, visitwww.caseih.com or talkto your Case IHdealer.

The RTK Base Station can be either portable or permanently mounted. It includes a GPS antenna, receiver and radio link to provide RTK correction signals to tractor-mounted guidance systems. The radio link is “line of sight” and normally has a range of five miles (eight km) depending onantenna height and terrain.

A Steering Sensor, mounted on the front king pin of an MX Series Magnum tractor or on the rightsteering cylinder of an STX Series Steiger tractor, provides steering direction to the NavigationController (not pictured) when the AccuGuide system is engaged.

RTK Tractor Radios receive the RTK correction signal from the RTK Base Station and provide thecorrection data to the Navigation Controller.

The Case IH Virtual Terminal Display provides a complete user interface with the AFSAccuGuide system.

14

The access platform is centrally locatedto simplify the refilling process and iscovered with a resilient anti-slip material.

SIMPLER, FASTER SEED FILLING

All 1200 Series ASM Pivot-transport Planters can beequipped with the Case IH Bulk-fill System fortimesaving convenience. Featuring two large, stationary-mounted, bulk-capacity seed hoppers, this system boostsin-the-field productivity by expediting seed handling andrequiring fewer stops for refills.

UNIQUE OPERATION. The Case IH Bulk-fill Systemuses gentle airflow to deliver seed for accurate meteringby the Case IH Advanced Seed Meter (ASM). At theheart of the system, a rugged fan provides a constantairflow rate for reliable seed distribution to individual rowunits. The airflow is proportionately blended with theseed in the Bulk-fill inductor box to fluidize theair/seed mixture. Once the mixture is ready for deliveryto the row unit, the fan gently transports the seed toa mini-hopper located just above the ASM. This mini-hopper maintains a constant seed level available formetering, and it is replenished on demand.

This revolutionary yet simple airflow design ensures auniform seed volume throughout all the row units acrossthe entire planter. For the ultimate in planting productivityfor seed corn production, use the on-row hoppers formale rows and put female varieties in the Bulk-fill System.

UNPARALLELED OPERATOR EASE. The fillingplatform on the Case IH Bulk-fill System is much morespacious and has a much lower profile, compared to

competitive designs. Positioned approximately 3 ft.(.9 m) off the ground, the platform’s ultra-low designkeeps transport height to a minimum and allows excellentoperator visibility to the rear of the planter. The lowprofile deck height easily allows the operator to backa pickup up to the filling deck. Competitive designsrequire the operator to climb as many as six steps toreach the filling deck. During planter operation, ahandy hopper-level sensor indicates when the Bulk-fillhoppers should be refilled.

RUGGED, ROTATING DESIGN. The Case IHBulk-fill hoppers are composed of a highly durable,weather-resistant poly material for long life and sturdyseed containment. Seed is protected by tight-fittinghopper lids, which are positively sealed with a foamgasket to eliminate air escape or water penetration. For transporting ease, the Bulk-fill hoppers rotate inconjunction with the planter’s pivoting frame.

CROPPING VERSATILITY. The Case IH Bulk-fillSystem is approved for field corn, popcorn, soybeans,milo/sorghum and sunflowers.

For best performance,use CNH graphite.

WIDE-WORKING PRODUCTIVITY WITH THE ADDED ADVANTAGE OF NARROW TRANSPORT

UNCOMMON, ON-COMMAND PIVOTING. Theseingenious planters redefine the concept of transportingease. Unlike other planters you’ve seen before, theyquickly and cleverly pivot to a narrow transport width –just 12 ft. 7 in. (3.8 m) with the Case IH Bulk-fill System,or 12 ft. 3 in. (3.7 m) with standard on-row hoppers. No out-of-cab operations are needed. You simply press atouchscreen button to begin the lift-and-pivot sequence. Then, with another single command, the planter reopensand lowers to its ready-to-plant position. There’s truly nobetter, faster way to travel to, from and between yourfields during the critical prime planting period. And themore time you save during transport, the more time youcan spend placing seed in the ground. That’s a business-wise benefit that every farmer can appreciate.

CLOSE-COUPLED CONVENIENCE. With otherrotating toolbar designs, a long, nonretractable tonguepositions the planter far away from the tractor cab.On these Case IH pivoting models, the tongue retracts tokeep the planter close to the tractor for a better view andmore control – and even allows you to perform hairpinturns. [While in the planting position, the 16-row plantermeasures just 18 ft. 5 in. (5.6 m) from the hitch tothe carrying wheels. And the 12-row measures only15 ft. (4.6 m).] The close-coupled feature is alsoconvenient when you’re pulling your planter alongnarrow country roads and across bridges.

UNEQUALED METERING AND SEED BEDCONDITIONING. With Case IH 12- and 16-rowPivot-transport Planters, you can have greater transportingconvenience without compromising yield potential. Likeall other 1200 Series models, these planters areequipped with the Case IH Advanced Seed Meter (ASM)and Early Riser row unit, and operate well throughout thetillage spectrum, from conventional to No-till. The ASMdelivers precise seed singulation for any size or shape ofseed, while each row unit optimizes seed bed conditionsfor earlier, more even emergence.

VARIABLE-RATE CONTROL. The Case IH AFSUniversal Display Plus (see page 12) is designedspecifically for achieving precision managementwith these wide-working 12- and 16-row models.

With this multi-functional system, you can change rateson the go right from the cab with just a touch of a button.Just enter the desired population and it automaticallyadjusts the seeding rate.

RUGGED, RELIABLE MAINFRAME. Solidly built foryears of dependable use, these pivoting planters are asound investment. The sturdy 7 x 7 in. (178 x 178 mm)mainframe easily shoulders the heavy-duty Early Riserrow units.

LIGHTWEIGHT FOOTPRINT. High-flotation tirescreate a lightweight, 38 psi (2.7 kgf/cm2) footprint on the16-row model. Four 16.5L x 16.1 ribbed implement tiresfollow in the tractor’s tracks to help minimize compactionand control field traffic.

With split-row planter configurations, the Early Riserrow units are staggered 10 in. (254 mm) back toprovide outstanding trash flow capabilities. Heavyresidue, rocks and clods are not a concern, thanksto each row unit’s “walking beam” gaugewheels, that maintain uniform seedingdepth and placement. 25

No other split-row planter on the market todayoffers more complete access to EVERY row unitthan the Case IH 1200 Series ASM 12/23 and16/31 Pivot-transport Planters.*

With the toolbar raised and cylinder stopsinstalled*, each Early Riser row unit is clearlyaccessible for easy maintenance.

* Install transport cylinder stops before workingunder the machine.

THE SUPERLATIVE SPLIT-ROW PLANTERS FOR CORN-AND-SOYBEAN GROWERS

TWO-PLANTERS-IN-ONE EFFICIENCY. These Case IH1200 Series ASM Split-row Planters are perfect for large-acreage corn and soybean farmers who are looking toboost productivity. The 12/23 and 16/31 configurationsallow corn to be planted in twelve or sixteen 30 in. (762mm) rows and allow soybeans to be planted in twenty-threeor thirty-one 15 in. (381 mm) rows. Each planter can beconverted from corn to soybeans, or vice versa, with only afew adjustments that take only a short time to complete.

UNBEATEN ACCURACY. The Case IH 12/23 and16/31 models are simply the most advanced, mostaccurate split-row planters on the market. The slow-turning Case IH Advanced Seed Meter (ASM) designuses the largest diameter seed corn disk – 11.8 in. (300mm) – with the most holes in the industry (48). The largenumber of holes allows the seed disk to turn more slowly, even at higher planter operating speeds (depending onfield conditions), for more controlled seed release andbetter accuracy. In comparison, a 12-finger meter design

must turn four times faster than the ASM to maintainthe same population. With the ASM, you can have thecapability of covering more acres while still achieving apicket-fence-type stand.

PIVOTING SIMPLICITY. Moving your 1200 SeriesASM Split-row Planter to and from the field is an easyprocess, for it uses the same pivoting toolbar design asthe 12- and 16-row planters (see page 23). With thetouch of a button, the planter will go from field positionto a narrow transport position measuring just 12 ft. 7 in.(3.8 m) wide when mounted with Case IH Bulk-fill Systemhoppers.

LESS FILLING, GREAT HASTE. The Case IH Bulk-fillSystem takes productivity a step further. Twin 40-bushel(1,410 L) hoppers provide a constant flow of seed to eachrow unit. This means you can stay in the field longer andget more done with fewer, shorter stops to refill the planter.

Four flotation tires, which are the largest in theindustry, (standard on all pivot-transport planters)evenly distribute the weight of the heavy-dutymainframe, creating a lighter overall footprintand ensuring good operational stability in wetfield conditions.

On the Case IH 1200 Series ASM 24/20 Planter, two dozen Early Riser row units are spaced 20 in.(508 mm) apart. The Case IH Bulk-fill System is akey standard feature for easier, faster seed filling.

The unique pivoting toolbar is convenientlyoperated with a simple touchscreen commandfrom inside the tractor cab.

PRACTICAL, NARROW-ROW SPACING FOR HIGHER YIELD POTENTIAL

NARROWER ROWS – NOW A REALITY. Theadvantages of narrow row spacing – including largerpopulations, more efficient light utilization, better weedcontrol, decreased herbicide costs and potentially higheryields – have been explored and discussed for years. Now those advantages are actually achievable with thisdefinitive 20 in. (508 mm) row planter. The Case IH1200 Series ASM 24/20 configuration makes narrowerrow spacing not only possible, but also practical, byplanting seed with unsurpassed precision. Featuring theAdvanced Seed Meter (ASM) and 24 Early Riser rowunits, this planter ensures superior control of population, seed depth, in-row spacing and seed-to-soil contact.

THE BEST MEANS FOR ACHIEVING MOREPLANTS PER ACRE. Simply adding more plants into30 in. (762 mm) rows is not always a viable method forincreasing population. Your closer in-row spacing maycause excessive crowding, which can have a negativeimpact on yields. Switching to 20 in. (508 mm) rowspacing allows more in-row spacing between plants, thereby reducing plant-to-plant competition.

FASTER CANOPY FOR IMPROVED LIGHTUTILIZATION. Agronomists have proven that havingthe ground fully shaded by the longest day of the year(June 21) makes for the most efficient use of sunlight

by the plants. Twenty-inch (508 mm) rows planted withthe Case IH 1200 Series ASM 24/20 Planter are morelikely to shade earlier than 30 in. (762 mm) rows.

LESS ROOM FOR WEEDS, LESS MONEY SPENTON WEED CONTROL. The earlier canopy producedby 20 in. (508 mm) row crops reduces weed pressure, which helps new hybrids achieve their highest yieldpotential. Weeds shaded out by more aggressive standscan also result in a less costly herbicide program. And the earlier, denser shade cover even helpsconserve moisture.

GREATER PROFIT POTENTIAL. By planting yourcrops with the Case IH 1200 Series ASM 24/20 Planter, you may gain a potential yield advantage of up to eightpercent compared to yields produced by conventionalwide-row spacing.

A PLAN FOR SUCCESS. In preparation for planting20 in. (508 mm) rows, you can equip your tractor withtall radial tires that have a long, narrow footprint. The Case IH AFS AccuGuide™ Autoguidance System(see page 11) gives you the ability to concentrate onthe implement behind you, rather than concentrating ondriving in straight rows. This greatly reduces the effortneeded to plant, cultivate and spray 20 in. (508 mm) rows.

LIQUID FERTILIZER

Promote faster, earlier seed growth by applying liquid starter fertilizer duringplanting. Large-capacity polyethylene tanks hold 70 to 300 gal. (265 to 1136 L) each andcan be mounted on the toolbar or your tractor, depending on the planter configuration.A Bulk-fill System allows easy single-point filling. Planter mounted liquid fertilizeris available on 6- and 8-row trailing as well as 12- and 16-row Pivot-transportconfigurations only.

Some planter models can be equipped with a Case IH squeeze pump meter or a high-output diaphragm pump for greater reliability and lower maintenance. The liquid squeezepump capacity ranges from 3.9 to 41.2 gal. (14.8 to 156 L) per acre on 30 in. (762 mm)row spacing. The diaphragm pump capacity ranges from 5 to 25 gal. (19 to 95 L) peracre, with six different orifice sizes available to match your gallons-per-acre requirementand planting speed.

Three different types of openers are available to suit different farming practicesand field conditions:

– The double-disk opener works well in conventional- and Mulch-till fields.

– The single-disk No-till opener with fertilizer knife features a durable,17 in. (432 mm) rippled coulter and parallel linkage for Mulch-till and No-tillfield conditions.

– The single-disk opener with liquid injection (pivot planters only) allows you toplace fertilizer right where you need it. This opener’s flex-mounted injection nozzleand 25-wave coulter blade work well with most soil management practices and soiltypes. Parallel linkage ensures stability for optimum placement.

DRY FERTILIZER

Boost the potential of every plant with dry fertilizer application. Dry fertilizerhoppers hold from 600 to 900 lbs. (272 to 408 kg) each, depending on the planterconfiguration. Planter mounted dry fertilizer is available on 6- and 8-row trailingconfigurations only.

Choose from 45 different application rates and low-, high- or extra high-rate augers.Perfect for conventional- and Mulch-till conditions, the double-disk opener places yourexact rate in the right place. For No-till fields, opt for the single-disk opener with17 in. (432 mm) rippled coulter. A knife scraper can be added to keep openers clean. And optional gauge wheels allow for placement 3 or 4 in. (76 or 102 mm) deep.

Control weeds and pests right from the start by applying granular treatments.Granular chemical hoppers hold 70 lbs. (32 kg) of either herbicide or insecticide, or35 lbs. (16 kg) of each when used with a conversion divider. Large dials are easy to setand adjust to your desired rates. Several application attachments are available, basedon your preferences. (Granular chemical is available on all configurations.)

For insecticide application, a front or rear insecticide spreader puts chemical in anarrow band either before the opener or after the press wheel. An in-furrow hose placesinsecticide in the seed trench. With these various attachments you have the ability tosurface apply, apply in-furrow or T-band your insecticide. And you may choose to adda closed handling lid-fill system that reduces operator exposure.

For herbicide application, a rear-mounted herbicide spreader handles distributionover the closed furrow. Add a herbicide windshield when banding on windy days. Followapplication with a spring-tooth incorporator to help mix soil and chemicals while levelingand loosening soil to lessen crusting or erosion. For transport, simply flip up the spring-tooth incorporator bracket assembly.

To prevent residue-wrap and damage from dirt clods, guard attachmentsare available. The drive-wheel chain guard protects critical componentsfrom residue and clods in Mulch- and No-till fields.

With the bar rock guard, you can keep rocks from wedging between thedrive wheel and gauge wheel. Used in combination with a wheel cover, this also prevents rocks and dirt clods from damaging the tire valve stem.

Move residue and achieve maximum soil penetration in heavyNo-till conditions with the combination residue manager coulter.

Available on pivot-transport configurations only.30

Disk furrowers move dry soil and residue to the side for smoother opener operation. Choose regular or notched disks depending on your conditions.Regular disks are sized 9.25 or 12 in. (234 or 304 mm) in diameter and are set nose to nose. For heavier residue conditions in Mulch-till and No-tillfields, opt for notched 12 in. (304 mm) disks in a staggered position. Adjust depth and blade angle to suit your situation.

Sweep away residue from the path of Early Riser openers with the dualresidue manager. Each 13 in. (330 mm) steel wheel has 16 fingers toclear stalks and trash out of the way. Adjust working depth shallowenough for minimal soil disruption.

The single residue manager moves residue to one side of the Early Riserrow unit gauge wheel, not combining residue from two row units as withthe dual residue manager. Single wheel managers are recommended forsplit-row and 20 in. (508 mm) configurations.

Available through Parts, an optional rotary scraper preventsexcess dirt buildup, which is especially useful in wet or sticky soils.A heavy-duty flat scraper comes standard.

This “V-shaped” furrowing wing removes the top layer of soil orclods from beds so seed is placed into moist soil. Wings are notrecommended for heavy-residue conditions or in rocky or sticky soils.

31

Add a heavy-duty downpressure spring (available through Parts) to thedual closing disks for extra force to cover the seed trench in hard soils.

Put this heavy-duty unit-mounted 8-wave coulter ahead of the openersfor additional tillage in tough No-till conditions with hard soils andheavy residue. An independent depth adjustment lets you control thelevel of tillage you desire. A 25-wave rippled coulter is also available.

No-till residue managers are for heavy, No-till residue situationsand are recommended for pivot-transport configurations only.

Let heavy-duty row markers make a clear sight line to follow in allfield conditions. Depending on your planter, you’ll get automaticalternation or manual electric selector control. All markers have safetylocks for transport.
