• DataPro is a collection of functions that can be run independently or together.

• Essential in streamlining many of your processes, especially your monthly data collection.

• Functions in DataPro:– Importing– Delete– Replace– Geocode– ReportPro

DataPro

• DataPro is a separate executable file, located in the root directory of your Centrax installation.

• DataPro relies on the saved features in Centrax as the “Building Blocks” for the processes you will run.

• Features that need to be pre-set:– Import Definitions– Filters– ReportPros

• Before we can work in DataPro, we must establish our “Building Blocks” within Centrax.

• Sometimes your systems don’t always play nice together.

• Data Conversion allows you to format your raw codes to fit into Centrax.

• From the Main Menu in Centrax, go to Setup>Data Conversion.

• To start a new conversion, click New. • The Old Code is how it looks in export file, the New Code is

how it should look in Centrax.

• The new group is added with old and new values.• To set up additional conversions, click New. • But this time, select Existing Group and select the correct

group. Enter the next set of old and new codes, click OK.• Continue on until all codes are added.

• Keep in mind….– You can convert a value to blank.– But you CANNOT convert a blank to a value in Data

Conversion.– You have to account for all possibilities within your

export file.• Example:

• Import Definitions– Centrax accepts 4 file types

• Fixed Length• Comma-Delimited• Tab-Delimited• Excel

• Fields can be in any order.• Dates and Numeric fields can be in a variety of formats, you

simply tell Centrax what format is being used.

• We will focus on importing an Excel file.• If your institution works with any of the other formats,

instructions can be found in the Centrax User Guide.• The Centrax User Guide can be found in Help>Help Topics.

• Creating a new import definition for Excel format.• In Centrax, under File>Import>Text/Excel Files.• Under the Setup tab, click New, and a blank setup form is

provided.

• Enter the details of your file.• Description should be whatever is meaningful to you.

You have up to 40 characters.• Import file refers to the location and name of the excel

file you are bringing in. Browse out to find file.

• Set the Import Settings for your file.• Answers to questions about how your institution handles

data will play a key role in how the Import Settings will be set.• The good news is, this was more than likely done for you at

set up!

Where did these loans come from again?


• If you do not allow for Duplicate Account #’s some decisions will need to be made.

• It would be a good idea to talk these through with someone at MARQUIS.

• Completed Import Definition.– Once all questions have been answered, click Save and

then Import Setup.

• Last Step….now map your Excel columns to the appropriate Centrax field.

• You can limit choices by selecting Field Selection buttons.• Left column is list of Centrax fields.• Middle column is your Excel file header row.• Right column is where conversions or formats are selected.

• If your export file has data that requires conversion, you set that in Centrax under Setup>Data Conversion.

• Then map the conversion codes in the import definition.

• Date and Numeric fields such as APR, Term, Annual Income, and Original Balance need a format.

• You will choose from the choices provided that match your export file.

• This import definition can now be used within DataPro.

• The Lookup Tables are our cheat sheet.

• The Lookup Tables allows you to define what the codes stand for in 12 fields.

• As imports happen, any codes for those fields that are not defined will be added to the Lookup Table.

• You can then add the description.

• To add a Description, select the Description you want to edit, click Edit.

• Make changes, click Save.

• The 12 fields that may be managed in the Lookup Tables are:

• Account Types• Branch Codes• Compensating Factor Codes• Data System ID Codes• GL Call Codes• GL Collateral Codes• GL Purpose Codes• Line of Business Codes• Officer Codes• Product Codes• Region Codes• User Denial Reasons

You do not need to use all of them. Use only what is available and what will be helpful to your data collection.

• Filters allow you to narrow down to certain loans based on the conditions you set.

• Centrax offers 2 types of Filtering – the FAST method and the 4-Step (not so fast) method.

• Filters are built under Discovery>Research.

• You have three options under Fast Filters.– Fast HMDA– Fast CRA– Fast Fair Lending

Always start here. You will save time by using the Fast Filters because you are allowing Centrax to do the work for you.

• This is an example of a Fast HMDA filter.

• Simply check the boxes for the conditions you want to look at.

• Select as many as you need.

• If there is a drop down box, it will show you code and description.

• The Amount/Percentage box allows you to set a range of values for key fields, if needed.

• The conditions are built for you.

• Count button filters out the loans that meet those conditions.

• Displays the number of filtered records.

• You can now execute anything under the Output Menu and it will be limited to only those records that meet the conditions of the filter..

• All filters have Untitled as the name until you Save it.• Filters must be saved in order to be used in DataPro.• To save a filter, click Save.

• Next to the As: type a name for the filter. Be descriptive.• Next, click either Existing to use an existing group or New

to start a New group.

Note: DataPro filters are best grouped together.

• When you are finished using a filter, click Clear.• You will get a message asking If you are sure, click yes. If

you have not saved the filter, it will ask if you want to save.

• 4-Step Filters require a little more thinking.• But necessary if you are looking for certain conditions:

– Blank– Not Blank– Within a List– UDF Fields

To create a 4-Step Filter, click New.

• Step 1 – Select the Type of field.• Double click, use the tabs at the top, or the Next Step

button at the bottom to move to the next step.

• Step 2 – Select the field you want to filter.• Depending on the field you selected you will get one of 4

different screens for Step 3.

• Step 3 – Select the Operator from the screen provided.• Based on the field you selected in Step 2, you will get one

of the following 4 screens.

• You can continue to add conditions by selecting New again.• You can also mix Fast Filters with 4-Step Filters.

Remember to Save your Filters if they will be used in the future. 4-Step Filters are saved the same as Fast Filters.

• The ReportPro allows you to store a group of reports so they can be run all at once and in the same way time after time.

• ReportPro can be found in Main Menu>Processors>ReportPro.

• The List Tab shows all existing Groups.• To create new Group, go to Edit Tab.

• Click New• Type Group and Short Description.• Click Save.

• To add reports to the Group, choose a report and select your settings.

• Reports can be reordered once placed in a Group, so you may add them in any order.

• If you want the report to include a filter, you MUST use saved filters.

• Temporary, or unsaved filters, will not be applied when ReportPro is generated.

• You can review your settings under the Edit Tab, click Edit, select the report you want to review, then Edit Report.

• The set up screen will appear and changes can be made.

DataPro.• When you first log in, all of the Tabs will be blank. You may

begin adding features. On the Import Tab, click Add.

• When adding filters, you can get exactly the information you need.

Use the Arrows in the middle to move fields from the Available Fields to the Selected Fields. The double arrow moves all. The single arrow moves either a single field or selected fields. You can select multiple by using the CTL key.

can change the order by clicking/holding the small grey box and dragging.

Yes, you can rearrange once the data is in Excel or Access. But if you will be doing this export over and over, it will save you time to put the fields in the order you want them.
