Dear Families, I hope that everyone has started to enjoy some of the dry weather that has started to come through. I have enjoyed listening to many of our students this week talk about their long weekend that involved camping, swimming and enjoying the weather. This week we have had all our classes visit the Mothers Day Stall to either have a look at or purchase some lovely little gifts for their mother or mothers that care for all our students. On Friday we have our Mothers Day Breakfast and would love to see as many mums and children at school around 7:30am to enjoy the opportunity to celebrate “Our Mums”. Over the next couple of weeks our Year 4, 5 & 6 students will have the opportunity to participate in some time trials for our School Athletics Championships that will be held before our Sports Day in Week 10. Mr Slidders will be running the trials and will call for students to join these trials if they are interested. We have a busy week next week with our NAPLAN testing. This year we are completing all our testing online, except for the Year 3 Writing. As a school we have trialled the online platform on many occasions and our students have responded very well to the online test and enjoyed the change. Next week some of our Pandanus students will join with Nermarluk School to participate in a Sports Day. This a great opportunity for our students to visit another school and share in an experience where they will be able to meet new students and participate in a range of different activities. Thank you to all our families for your commitment to our school and for working together with the school to make your students learning and experience a positive one. The annual Mothers Day stall is being held May

9 & 10. Students will have set viewing days

and then come back to purchase on their

scheduled day.

There will be a free BBQ breakfast on the 10

May in the courtyard behind the Staffroom, all

mums, carers, aunties, grandmas welcome but

students need to be accompanied by an adult.

HUGE thanks to Mrs Munn and Mrs Toft for

their organisation and running of the Mothers

Day events.

Welcome to H1 - our wonderful Art room! We began with a blank canvas at the start of the year, and the students have worked very hard with me to create a space where everyone can feel welcome, calm, and inspired. Last term we studied famous artists throughout history and learned about some amazing styles and techniques. This term it’s all about our own identities and letting them shine through the art we create. Also this term, H1 will host Woodroffe’s new Trash to Treasure Club. We’re calling for donations of recyclable items that we can turn into both practical and beautiful items for school and community projects. Please bring in the following items if you have no use for them: plastic soft drink bottles and their lids; newspapers; plastic bags; and T-shirts bound for op-shops. Finally, if you’d like to come along and participate in your child’s Art class during the week, feel free to send me an email to find out the details: [email protected] It would be fantastic to have families participate in the creative process.
