The enthusiasm of our House Captains and Vice Captains who lead their teams throughout the day. The huge team effort put in by staff members. Seeing the many parents who came along to support their children and to celebrate with them. The happy smiling faces of children as they raced past me. The attentive listening which resulted in every child knowing when and where to go. Students striving to achieve their personal best– it really did not matter if they came first or towards the end as every child tried their hardest - some fell but just got up and continued on. The Preschool coming to visit and sharing in the excitement of the morning. How wonderful and proud the students (and staff and parents!) looked dressed in their team colours During the presentation when the winning team and champions were announced everyone clapped and cheered. My list is endless! It was a great day. Thank you to the Sports Day Coordinator Kathryn Nolan and her committee members; Dorothy Howell, Michelle Lobley, Sarah Cummings, Julie Geisel, Suzanne Mortimore and Liz Simon for all their work and planning in the lead up to the carnival. Their hard work was evident in the smooth running of the day. The success of any great school event certainly depends on good preparation, training, parent and staff support but are also dependent on us being committed to the vision of our school. Woodroffe Primary School will provide every opportunity for our students to reach their full potential within a cooperative and collaborative community. Further, at Woodroffe we believe the cornerstone of good teaching practice is developing good relationships between staff and students. We explicitly teach Woodroffe students cooperative and collaborative skills, appreciations, teamwork and trust through our Tribes program. We want Woodroffe to be an inclusive environment for all. For many years now parents have been very pleased with the results Tribes has produced. Over time our staff has changed and currently we have many staff members who are not trained in Tribes. For constant school improvement the rest of us will attend to refresh and reinforce our Tribes practices.. Once more thank you for the community support as we hold our Tribes Professional Development Day tomorrow. Dear Families

What a fantastic Sports Day we had yesterday. Here is my list of what gave me joy; The excellent behaviour of students. Students striving to achieve their personal best– it really did not matter if they came first or towards the

end as every child tried their hardest - some fell but just got up and continued on. The Preschool coming to visit and sharing in the excitement of the morning. How wonderful and proud the students (and staff and parents!) looked dressed in their team colours During the presentation when the winning team and champions were announced everyone clapped and

cheered.

Sports Carnival

Round Up

Thank you to Susanne Gamble, Lynnise Vale, Sandra Leahy and Mark Noonan who generously volunteered their time to help out the Carnival, without your help day would not have been such a success.

Thanks also to the army helpers who assisted in setting up, timekeeping and packing up. Their help was invaluable and they enjoyed the day very much.

On behalf of our year 6 cohort thanks go to following parents who gave up their time to cook and sell sausages throughout the morning, Maliwan Khumpolrong, Maryanne Muller, Brenda Osgood, Jodie Romanes, Sylvia Zervos, Paulette Hawkes and Ethan Horrigan.

Thanks to Pulp Kitchen for donating bread and sauce etc. $672 was raised which will go towards the cost of the Year 6 Graduation Dinner.

END OF SEMESTER DISCO

Thursday 18th June (Week 10)

Early Childhood (Trans—Year 3) : 12.15 - 1.15 Primary: (Years 4 – 6) 1.30 - 1.25

In the School Hall

To attend please bring a gold coin donation which will go toward towards purchasing home readers

for the school.

The SRC will run dancing games.

We're learning Japanese! (にほんごをべんきょうしています!) Konnichiwa! From Cathy and Haruka sensei (せんせい).

We are learning how to say what animals, sports and food we like in Japanese.

What do you like? Nani ga suki desu ka? For example, I like sushi – sushi ga suki desu. I don’t like sushi – and sushi ga suki janai desu.

Try practicing this at home and teach your family how to say suki / suki janai desu.

Our Lost property box is overflowing! If you are missing

lunchboxes, hats or other items please look through the box at the back of the office. Anything left at the end of term will be donated to charity. Please ensure all items brought to school are clearly named. We recommend your child’s name, a button or a badge be sewn onto the outside of your child’s hat so they may easily identify their own hat at a glance.

REMINDER that the school’s new finishing will be 2.20pm beginning on the first day of Term 3, Tuesday 21st July
