  • Message From The Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh

  • Message From The Education MinisterOn behalf of Honourable Blaine Higgs, Premier, and the people of New Brunswick, CANADA, I offer warm congratulations to Canadian Trillinium School students and their guardians, staff, and Board of Directors on the occasion of Graduation 2020.

This year marks the seventh CTS graduation with students completing their studies. We recognize that the graduating class of 2020 has had many challenges due to the global pandemic and we want to acknowledge the perseverance and hard work that has brought each one of you to this milestone achievement today.

New Brunswick is proud of the partnership in global education between Atlantic Education International (AEI) and Canadian Trillinium School (CTS). The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development provides the curriculum used by our students and teachers. The balanced focus on 21st Century learning skills and traditional education will benefit students as they make their way into the world.

CTS graduates are currently studying at top universities at home and around the world in countries including Canada, UK, Australia, and the USA…an incredible accomplishment for a small school in a very short period of time.

In closing, I want to wish graduates and their guardians a memorable graduation day filled with joy and the promise of a bright future ahead. May you carry with you a sense of pride and gratitude for your school and teachers. Today you become members of a select, small group of distinguished CTS alumni. Carry that torch with pride!

Congratulations and best wishes for future success.

    Sincerely,

  • Message From The Chairman of CTSDear Prospective Parents,

Assalamualaikum and welcome, CTS students, Faculty, Parents, and Guests.

In 2020, I can confidently and proudly state that we are of the top-ranking schools in Dhaka. We are delighted to have been accredited by the AEI.

We have achieved our success by focusing on five powerful pillars of sound educational practice: our vision and mission, innovative teaching for learning, sound assessment practices, data analysis, supervision, and counseling.

We are delighted that you are considering The CTS School for your son’s daughter’s future. This institution has honed and fine-tuned a learning and life-skilling system that has been envied and benchmarked across Bangladesh and the region for decades.

CTS alumni are now studying in renowned US, Canadian, Australian, and British universities, majoring in a variety of specializations. Their success is a reflection of the strength of our core educational values. The ease with which they have been able to integrate and blend smoothly into their new communities and lives is nothing but a testimony to the learning foundation and character development they acquired over the years at CTS.

As a chairperson, my greatest pride lies not only in the development of academic achievement, but also in our sustainable school philosophy, which prioritizes and is devoted to human capital development. It has truly been an honor serving CTS since 2011.

In today’s changing world, no institution of repute and quality can afford to sit on its laurels. So, a decisive shift is being engineered that will help Dhaka’s best school gain a global reputation, and go where no school from Dhaka has ever gone.

In the next five years, therefore, our focus will be on academic excellence. This will help our students gain admission to the finest higher education institutions in Dhaka and around the world. Initiatives are also being put in place that will allow students to fit into a rapidly changing adult world. At the same time, the school’s greatest strength - pedagogy balanced with pastoral care - will be supported in equal measure to enhance the school’s standing as the best school in Dhaka.

    Yours sincerely

    Capt. Moazzam Hossain

    Sophie Leila Haque

My name is Sophie. I am seven and a half years old. I will go to second grade soon. I have a happy family. I love my family. I have many friends. I like playing with my friends. Because of Coronavirus I am always at home. I have summer school now. When I am free, I watch cartoons about fairies and elves. I draw a lot of pictures and do crafts every day. This weekend, I made some paper dinosaurs. These were huge animals. Sometimes, I help my mommy cook. My mom says that I am her little helper. My favorite food is pizza and I know how to bake it. I play with my grandparents and ask them a lot of questions. I want to be a scientist. My mommy says that I will be a good scientist because I ask so many questions.

Sometimes I wish I could visit my friends and cousins. I will go out again when Coronavirus decides to go away. I hope it goes away soon. You take care and keep washing your hands.

MESSAGE FROM GRADE-6The grade 6s are a very bright and energetic class. We all are very competitive but at the same time great friends. We enjoyed this school year very much especially during Pohela Falgun and the picnic. We also enjoyed doing group projects especially the one we did in math class where we made an amusement park. Grade six has learned a lot this year and we are looking forward to starting grade seven.

    -Zarmina KhanGrade-6 student

  • MESSAGE FROM THE GRADE-6 HOMEROOM TEACHERDear Grade 6,9 months ago you walked into my classroom, most of you confused, some of you excited but all of you were CURIOUS. Although you may have thought you were scared, but the most scared person in the room was probably me. It was my first time surrounded by so many little talented people and somehow your progress was to be my responsibility. I was actually quite TERRIFIED.I didn’t know what you knew and I didn’t know what to teach you.

So I started with the principle that you knew nothing and we worked from our way, from there I know I was STRICT and that at first you were afraid to ask questions and strictness meant to be DISCIPLINED. Gradually you started loving your class as soon as the competition amongst yourself increased.

Somehow, and I still can’t believe it, I taught you to sit quietly, PARTICIPATE in projects, listen to songs and so much more.

Some days we ACHIEVED a lot together and we celebrated as we learnt Modern World, History and Human Rights. We miss the day when we made wonderful, beautiful 3D projects which are still displayed in the school corridor. The days when we were proud of ourselves that we are thinking out-of-the-box.

Not only did you learnt to make assignments, you learnt to make amazing flyers and PowerPoints and nutritious posters. You learnt to work as a TEAM, inspiring each other to work hard.

For 180 days you were my responsibility, the reason I LAUGHED, and today, as I watched you graduate, the reason I am HAPPY many of you made me feel PROUD and surprised me at how much you have improved.

The truth is you have learnt so much and you are ready to move on, and do the great things I know you are CAPABLE of!

Wishing you a great and successful future!

    -Ms. Ayesha

  • MESSAGE FROM THE GRADE-7 HOMEROOM TEACHERI was blessed to be asked to be the Homeroom Teacher for Grade 7 2019-2020. We started off the year with only four students, Adiba, Alif, Asfia and Shimanto. I could not have asked for a finer group students. This group minus the students that left at the end of the year were my original Gr 6 group. Early in the first term, we were joined by Ryan who returned to our school, after spending a year at another school. After a shaky start, our class bonded well together and united as a group. They stood up and supported each other. A particular proud moment was when they performed together on stage on Language Day. All differences were put aside – and they performed as a solid united group. Then came Halloween Day. Classes were asked to design and create a display that would stand out. At first they were not interested. Thank goodness they changed their minds. They wanted to take on the challenge – and see if they could beat the Grade 8 class. After much debate they chose their topic - a vampire in the coffin. They enjoyed working together and to everybody’s surprise – they won the Halloween Contest. Another opportunity in which our class were encouraged to stand by and work together, was on the outside field trip. Here we spent the day at a resort, travelling together, playing games and doing sport together. Some of our parents were also there. The year ended off stressfully – three months of online teaching, meant that my Grade 7 students missed out on the social interaction that they previously enjoyed. Let’s hope and pray that we all will be safe and that we may all be together again when we return in September. May your future and that of your family be bright and filled with health and happiness. We love you Grade 7’s. Make us all proud.-Jos Vonk

  • MESSAGE FROM THE GRADE-8 HOMEROOM TEACHERGrade 8 has been a roller-coaster year with so many great moments but ending in a very subdued fashion while we had to look at one another on screen. Nevertheless, even during this last period this extraordinary group of students took this anti-climax in their stride and continued to deliver great results. The Grade 8 students, Nabilah, Rayhan, Shafqat, Rihan and Zaiyan is a diverse group who excels whether it is in the classroom, on the culture stage or on the sports field. For me it was a wonderful and great privilege to be their Homeroom Teacher for the last two years. The words that come to light when I think of these students are:“That moment when a learner ‘gets it.’ That feeling when you see it in her face…when you see it all: ‘CLICK.’ Pure magic. Nothing like it in the world!”Special message from Grade 8: such an eventful year. It all went by so quick. It feels like we started this grade just yesterday. This year was all about being together as a group to get through this school year. We wanted to spend and enjoy these last few moments in middle school, nervously preparing for high school. We had moments where we were tired of either studying or preparing for a test, but there was always someone to bring up the vibe in the class. We are a class that just goes with the flow. We don't plan for events, or have certain expectations. We enjoy whatever comes upon us, and we enjoy it together.Even though we are only five people, each and every one of us has a role to play in our class. Five students doesn't seem like much, but to us that is just right. Also our teachers get a huge credit for making this year a memorable one!Anyways, all good things have to come to an end. So see you in Grade 9?Finally, I wish each one of them, who has become like family to me the very best for their Grade 9 year and the journey beyond. “I love you guys!”-Gerrit Coetzee

  • MESSAGE FROM THE GRADE-10 HOMEROOM TEACHERThis has been a year of change and challenge for Grade 10. The first semester saw the class almost double in size compared to last year, as we welcomed new students to the class. After a few early bumps, we settled down nicely, and had a really successful semester. Working on our entry for the Halloween competition was one of the real highlights. One of the highlights of the second semester was undoubtedly Shamel, in his part as a feeble old man for Mother Language day. Another was welcoming our latest new arrival, who quickly made his inimitable mark on the family, both academically and socially. The lockdown and online schooling was a huge challenge, and Grade 10 can be proud of how they handled it. Most of the students adjusted very successfully to online schooling and our fun changed, without stopping. Academically, most of the students rose to the challenge and performed really well. One of their outstanding academic achievements was to research and make presentations on “A Day in the Life of a Coding Specialist”.As their teacher, I can only say to the Grade 10s: It’s been a real privilege to teach you this year, and a lot of fun, too. You are awesome, and I am looking forward to watching your success over the coming years.-Mr.Allen

  • MESSAGE FROM THE GRADE-11 HOMEROOM TEACHER“Dynamic and enthusiastic students can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.”Grade 11 is filled with exciting and dynamic students. Throughout the year, students dedicated themselves to exploring, investigating, and analyzing various topics in all subjects. The teaching methods utilized in the classroom encourages students to research and extend their knowledge beyond the classroom. “Education isn’t just about what to think but it is also about how to think.” The students of Grade 11 are “out of box” thinkers. Students are able to implement what they learn in their practical life, as there is a strong resemblance between their studies with real life application. Seeing Grade 11 perform in the classroom and do amazing things with their knowledge, I believe that the future of this world is in my classroom. Each and every student have their own style of thinking, own way of presenting themselves and have their own perspective of their life. Out of many accomplishments this year, the students of Grade 11 showed great enthusiasm and interest in their Pre Calculus 11 course where they used interactive software such as Desmos to enhance their knowledge on Quadratic functions. Moreover, they enjoyed playing interactive mathematical games which encouraged them to integrate technology along with their learning. Apart from preparing students to be lifelong learners, Grade 11 prepares students for the next chapter in their journey of education: University. “The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.”-Mr.Paul

  • MESSAGE FROM THE GRADE-12 HOMEROOM TEACHERWe met for the first time four years ago. I was your homeroom teacher in your first and last year at CTS. You knew that the next four years would certainly require work, and especially a lot of self-study, as the CTS program aims to make you independent scientific thinkers. It is an international high school education that prepares you for further academic studies and to be world citizens. The Canadian curriculum is actually reflected in many very humane values. For example, key words in the learner profile such as caring, reflective and open-minded are such values. I would like to think that we teachers here at school to help create academic thinkers. Also, to encourage students to respect other people, cultures, and to embrace diversity in the world. We learned together and I enjoyed teaching you Math and Science. Math Grade 9, Science Grade 9, Math Grade 10, Science Grade 10, Pre-Calculus Grade 12 A, Pre-Calculus Grade 12 B and Calculus AP are subjects that we worked hard together. You are now turning a new page in your life and planning a new beginning. What to do in life and how to achieve dreams and important goals in life, are now in your mind. I hope wherever you go, whatever you do, the CTS experience will still be in your mind. Believe in making solutions in life that will increase your own well-being, do not stay in a situation where you don't feel good. Canadian curriculum highly demanding and high-quality studying developed your abstract thinking. It has made your information processing and problem solving more creative than ever before. It has also created the foundation for building something new as you move further in your studies. Maybe occasionally you go back to these times in your mind. You may remember some of science, math presentation and our solutions to difficult questions. You will remember all your CTS teachers. What I really hope, when you look back, is that you would, feel you also grew as a person and as a human being during the time spent at CTS.

    Good luck,

    Your homeroom teacher,

    Eden Smiley

  • Graduation Speech by Zafira KhanAfter years of learning together, creating memories together, and growing up together; we are here today as CTS’ Graduating Class of 2020. I am incredibly honoured to have the chance to deliver a

speech on our special day. It is obvious and quite sad that our senior year did not end the way that we thought it would. You only get a chance like this once in your life; which unfortunately we could not have. As our graduation day approached, we talked about our memories from earlier years and tried to make the most of the last few months. Looking back at all the memories I have with my classmates, makes me so incredibly happy to have them in my life. I wouldn’t even call myself unlucky because of the current situation, as I think I am fortunate to be a part of this amazing class.

I still remember my first time meeting everyone. When I joined CTS in grade 7, I was absolutely terrified about joining a new school and meeting new people. I still remember our small class which consisted of myself, Nusaiba, Shafeen, and Mim. Even though there weren’t that many of us back then, we formed a beautiful friendship. I still think of some funny moments from grade-7; like when Shafeen had a spicy Naga burger and forgot how to speak English so we had to translate to the teacher for him.

Two years later in grade-9, Alhan and Santara joined our class. It’s funny how they joined the same year because they both brought completely opposite energies to the class. Santara was quiet and shy; even to this day as we are graduating she doesn't say much. Then there was Alhan on the other side; loud and always being the class clown. My first memory of him is him sharing with us that he accidentally killed a monkey over the summer break. There was usually never a dull moment with Alhan around.

In grade-10, our class began to grow as Ehsanul, Monira, and Roza joined. Finally in grade-11, Danish was the final addition to our class. It didn’t matter how long I had known everyone because we always had a good time with each other around. Every year, we had so many memories together where we’d all laugh so much to the point where our stomachs were hurting. Like the time Shafeen threw a napkin at Mim and spilled water all over her painting. Or Danish coming up with a song for everyone and free styling. The girls and I had so much fun walking around the school as they found countless excuses to leave their Biology class. One time Mim and Nusaiba ran around the school chasing our friend Farnad with an onion. Our rehearsals for victory day were absolutely insane with Alhan playing as Zahir sir and crying over who will cook the rice since his wife dies in the play (bhaat ke pakabe). Roza always made sure to make us laugh; not with her jokes but with something funny she’d say during classes. And I definitely cannot forget our grade-11 history classes when we laughed so hard that Monira choked while drinking her water.

I spent every single day with these people for multiple years, I would not have it any other way. They are the reasons my high school experience has been so special. We had our ups and downs and our disagreements but at the end of the day, I consider them as my best friends. Sometimes it is scary for me to think that I won’t be spending my days with the same nine people anymore. I hope that as we go our separate ways, all of us will remember the memories we created and the bond that we have. I certainly will think about it from time to time and smile.

Obviously, I cannot forget every teacher that has taught me during my time at CTS. Some teachers left along the way and some are still here. I am grateful to all of them. Not only because of the education that I have been provided with but also because of the support that I have received from them. Teachers are truly a gift and I am appreciative of all of mine. It is not often that students can go to their teachers with problems but luckily my class and I can say that our teachers were understanding and supportive. Thanks to our teachers, we have received a great education that is enabling us to move on and prepared us to take on whatever challenges come next in our lives.

I am sure all of us graduates are extremely thankful for our families. I am so lucky to have had my parents support me during my years at school. They have been there for me during some of the toughest moments and without them I would not be here. Even with me being difficult to handle at times, they were so patient and I am forever grateful to have them by my side. Aside from our parents, I know we are thankful to our other family members such as grandparents and relatives.

Finally, my experience at CTS would really not have been the same without my best friends who are basically my sisters at this point; Armina and Imaan. On my first day I got put in their grade accidentally and I am glad I did because it allowed me to become friends with them. Even though they aren’t in the same grade; I have to mention them in this speech because they have been by my side through thick and thin.

This school has become my second home. It has helped me grow as a person. Initially when I joined, I definitely did not think that I would become the confident person that I am today. The opportunities that I have been given here has enabled me to do that. All of us are definitely going to always be a proud Husky.

Today, I want my classmates and I to celebrate what we have accomplished during our time here. I cannot wait to see where we all go as we end this journey and begin a new chapter of our lives. I am so excited for everyone. Congratulations Class of 2020!

  • Activities and Events

  • Student CouncilBy Zafira Khan (Grade-12 student, student council president, yearbook committee writer)This year's Student Council consisted of a very hardworking, responsible, and conscientious group of members. Throughout the year; we had events such as Black and Orange Day, Victory Day, Pohela Falgun and much more. Our most successful event was definitely the picnic to Gazipur. With the amount of funds that we had raised, we were excited to organize future events such as prom. Due to the current pandemic, we were unable to do so. Nevertheless, we donated our funds to several donation centers in order to help those that really need it. Every single member contributed in bringing success to every event that we had organized. Without the cooperation that we built, it would not have been possible.

  • Bake SalesBy Santara Khalil (Grade-12 student, student council treasurer, yearbook committee writer)The Student Council organized and hosted multiple bake sales to raise our funds, and celebrate a few events. We provided our fellow students, teachers, and staff with tasty treats to buy. Some of the events when bake sales took place was on friendship day, cancer awareness day, the winter clothing drive, etc. Everyone had really loved the food and drinks sold. It was all homemade by the students of the Student Council team. The food/drinks sold were also organized in the theme of the event with decorations and prompts handed out to everyone. For example, on breast cancer awareness day, we made everything in a pink theme and handed out free flyers describing the event. It was a great experience for me as well to be selling all these goods to the entire school!

  • Victory DayBy Zafira Khan (Grade-12 student, student council president, yearbook committee writer)Victory Day or Bijoy Dibosh is a day to commemorate Bangladesh’s victory from Pakistani forces during the Liberation War in 1971. This day is a joyous celebration for all Bangladeshis. We celebrate this day by wearing our national flag’s colours; green and red. This year the student council organized a day long event with performances from every grade. There were a variety of performances from singing, dancing, poetry recitation, to drama in the theme of Victory Day. The program was hosted by myself, the president of the student council and Vice-President, Nusaiba Mustafa. Traditional food items such as fuchkha, chotpoti, daab, and pitha with bhorta were arranged for students, teachers, and parents. • Pohela FalgunBy Azfar Rahim

(Grade-10 student, eco council president and yearbook committee writer)

Pohela Falgun is a festival welcoming the advent of spring, to leave

a message to all that love, affection, respect and commitment should be

cornerstones of removing all ills and building Bangladesh. The celebration

was started in 1991 by students of Dhaka University's Faculty of Fine Arts.

This year Pohela Falgun was one of the most memorable events of the

entire year. After lunchtime, students and teachers went out to the courtyard

in their beautiful and colourful clothes to welcome spring. There was music,

  • DonationsBy Alhan Rahman(Grade-12 student, student council co vice-president, yearbook committee writer)Since the rest of the school's planned programmes were cancelled because of the pandemic. We decided to donate most of the funds that were raised by the student council over this year to charitable organizations such as Jaago, Bidyanondo foundation, One taka meal, jannah welfare foundation and mission save Bangladesh. All these organizations are fighting the effects of the pandemic along with poverty in Bangladesh. We also set aside a part of the fund to give to the school's supporting staff.

  • Announcements CrewBy Nusaiba Mustafa (Grade-12 student, student council vice-president, yearbook committee writer)This group did a great job making every morning lively with their informative and fun announcements. In these 5 minute announcements, they played a nice song to start of the day, they played the national anthems of Bangladesh and Canada, informed us about the after school clubs and activities throughout the day, they notified us on the Air Quality Index(AQI), and also included riddles and quotes. A great way to start the day!
