BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN CRIMINAL JUSTICEThe College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University is one of the oldest and most prestigious programs in the nation. We offer both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, and they are even available online to allow you a flexible schedule.
Graduates of our program have the potential to pursue careers in almost any aspect of the justice system. Possible choices include corrections; local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies; government agencies; law and judiciary; advocacy; security; customs and border protection; probation and parole; crime victim assistance and advocacy; and crime analysis and investigation.
REQUIREMENTSCriminal Justice offers both a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS). The BS requires additional hours of a social science (e.g., psychology, sociology, political science, etc.) whereas the BA requires additional hours of a foreign language (e.g., Spanish, French, American Sign, etc.)
Minor: This program does not require a minor; however common minors include forensic science, security studies, psychology, communication studies, computer science, foreign language, general business, information assurance, and sociology.

INTERNSHIPSThe College of Criminal Justice offers an internship program for seniors to earn course credit while gaining hands-on experience and networking opportunities. Participating organizations include INTERPOL, the FBI, local police departments, and many more.
SCHOLARSHIPSOnce accepted, students may apply for relevant scholarships by completing the Scholarships4Kats online application. The College of Criminal Justice offers over 40 scholarships, some of which are specifically designated for incoming freshmen. Transfer scholarships are available for students who would like to continue their academic career at Sam Houston.
