MEDINA COLLEGE UNIFORM

School uniform is to be worn at all times on the school site. Uniform should be kept clean and neat and all items should be clearly named. Only items listed below may be worn to school.

Jewellery: A watch, one plain simple ring (e.g. a signet ring) and one pair of discreet stud earrings are the only items of jewellery allowed in school. Facial piercings are not permitted in school.

Student Planner: The planner is an essential part of school equipment, plus pens and pencils.

PE Kit: Bottle green polo shirt with school logo, plain black long sports socks and black shorts.

Optional PE items: Fleece (plain black), tracksuit bottoms (plain black) and rain jacket (plain black).

The correct PE kit must be worn; students may not wear ordinary uniform clothing for PE lessons. A suita-ble bag is needed for PE requirements. Personal clothing and sports equipment must be clearly named.

Dance: Students must bring their PE kits on the days that dance is on their timetable.

Protective clothing/equipment: Students will be required to use protective clothing/equipment in some lessons, e.g. Art, Science and Design Technology.

Medina Shakespeare company

Medina

Col- lege now has

its own Me- dina Shakespeare Com-

pany which will be performing

“Much ado about Nothing”. The company

is open to all students from any year

group who would like to find out that

Shakespeare can be fun (as witnessed by

our students who recently performed

The Tempest as part of the Schools’

Shakespeare Festival).

We will be holding auditions in the Drama

Studio on Monday and Tuesday 5th and

6th January 2015 at lunchtime, so anyone

wishing to be part of this exciting new

venture, whether new to Shakespeare,

curious, or more hardened Shakespeare

lovers, are welcome to come along.

Reporting an Absence

All absences must be reported before 9am

each day by calling the house attendance

Requests for absence during term time

The Department of Education no longer allows

Head Teachers to grant any leave of absence

during term time unless there are exceptional

circumstances. If you remove your child from

school during term time without the permis-

sion of the Head Teacher the absence will be

unauthorised and you may be liable for a Fixed

Penalty Notice of up to £120 per parent per

child.

Our Year 9 team beat Cowes Enterprise Academy 9-7 on Thursday afternoon. A great display of energy and enthusiasm from our Medina netballers! Our year 11's also put on a fantastic performances against the Cowes Year 12 team. A highly contested match - where our team played some wonderful netball but lost out narrowly.
