Year 5 and 6 Swimming
This term, Year 5 and 6 will be taking part in swimming lessons. Children will need to arrive at Bede’s Senior School Sports Hall (Upper Dicker, BN27 3QH) at 9.30am and be dropped off by parents and carers. Children will then be picked up at 12.15pm and be taken back to school via coach. Please ensure that consent forms have been returned by Wednesday 22nd January and that both Mrs Healy and the school office are aware of how your child is making their way to Bede’s.
Parent Forum
Next week on Wednesday 22nd January, a parent forum will be taking place in the Learning Zone.
The focus of the forum will be on reading strategies and feedback questionnaires.
The timing of the parent forum
will be confirmed on Monday.
We hope to see you there!
Harry’s Holiday Club Due to the success of my October holiday club, I will be running the event again throughout February half term.
The club will be held in Chiddingly school hall from Monday 17th February - Friday 21st February.
I will provide a range of fun packed sport and creative arts and craft activities throughout each day. I have sent out some leaflets with a list of prices and additional information. Children will need to be provided with a packed lunch and plenty to drink.
Throughout the holiday club I will be running a small tuck shop for the children to buy a few cheaply priced snacks if they so wish.
If you require any extra information please don’t hesitate to contact me through email; [email protected].

Reading
We have a developed a dedicated reading time during our school day. From 1.05-1.20pm each day, all children across the school (and lots of the grown ups!) will be spending time enjoying a book. This time allows the children to have a calm and peaceful start to the afternoon and also provides opportunity to develop their love of reading. Some children might be sharing a book with a partner, some might be reading with an adult and some will be reading independently.
Recommended Reads
My name is: Jasmine Sowden The book I am recommending is: ‘Wave Me Goodbye’ by Jacqueline Wilson This book is suitable for age(s):
4-5 6-7 8-9 10-11 12+
I recommend this book because: It’s such a good book. The illustrations are amazing. I love reading this book and it is about evacuees and how this group of young children are looking around a small village for somewhere safe to stay.
