Reading Comprehension – Read the information about Charles
Darwin below and create your own Fact File. You can use the
template below or make your own!
Comprehension Challenge Cards – Look at the Comprehension
Challenge Cards. Read the short extract and then answer the
questions.
Spelling
- Look at the list of Year 3 and 4 spelling words attached below.
There are over 100 spellings altogether! Choose between 5-10
words at a time to practise. You can practise them in a variety
of ways, such as rainbow and bubble writing, typing them on a
computer, or think of your own style! - If you’re unsure of the
meanings you could always ask a grown-up or use the internet
and record what you find.
Writing
- Spelling Activity Mats – Look at the activities for the next
5 words on the Year 3 and 4 Statutory Spelling List below and
complete one each day.
- Story Settings Description – Spicy - Look at the illustrations
and key words to write a description of that story setting.
- Up Levelling Sentences – Hot -
Look at the illustration and think of adjectives and
nouns to create expanded noun phrases.
E.g. The long, straight road ran past the enchanting
field.
Then, use the fronted adverbial sheet below to add
detail!
E.g. Without warning, the long, straight road ran past
the enchanting field.
Choose one of the subordinating conjunctions from
the worksheet below.
E.g. Without warning, the long, straight road ran past
the enchanting field until it came to a river.
- Topic
Our ‘Summer Topic’ will be World War 2.
- During the Second World War, The Battle of Britain was
fought between the RAF (Royal Air Force) and the German
Luftwaffe (Air Force). Some of the most popular British
Aeroplanes which fought in the Battle of Britain were
Supermarine Spitfires and Hawker Hurricanes. The Spitfires
battled with the German Fighter Planes while the Hurricanes
targeted the Bombers.
Look at the Aeroplanes below and re-create them or
create your own using materials you’ve got at home!
