1. Chairman’s Message

It is great of privilege to me to write down the message for the annual report of

our NGO ‘Yash Krishi Taknique Evam Vigyan Kendra, Allahabad’. I feel great

pleasure to report the events which this Kendra has carried out in past years. The

idea of starting an NGO for doing some social work and participation in development

activities came in 2003. It was quickly registered as Non Government Organization

with the registrar of societies. Later the idea came that apart from doing social work,

we also do something for the farmers. As the ‘javik krishi’ was the need of hour for

the farmers, so we started in this filed. The main initiative and help for this came from

Dr. Pramila Gupta and Dr Sunil Dewadi. Thus the organization started growing in

these directions resulted in giving fruits. This journey has been full of struggle, joy

and discovery. Then came the proposal of doing something in the field of education

for children. Thus Dr Namita Gopal made the efforts to get into quality school

education through Audio Visual presentation. Then M/S L & T Vadodara came

forward and helped us financially.

As we live today in a world that is so different from the one I grew in and the

one we were trained in so need of hour is change. As we impart education to match

the advancement of technology and globalization, we must also match our thinking

and actions ahead with the ethos of moral and ethical principles.

Today’s world is riding an accelerated pace and we need to pause and reflect it on

the entire system. I firmly believe that this change must penetrate right upto the last

man in the queue, so as to think, not what to think for them. At present we work in

various fields like:

• Natural and Javik Farming

• Social activities for the needy and pilgrims coming to Sangam

• Waste Management – both: Bio Degradable & Non Bio degradable.

• Children education and empowerment of youth and rural women

• Environment protection

• Association with cooperates and government under CSR activities etc

The Contents of this report reflect the creativity of thoughts and imagination of

our NGO members, staff and associates. I extend my warm regards to all our

members. We fortunately have a committed associates and supportive staff which

blend harmoniously to do good work in all fields. This I am sure, will take the NGO to

greater heights as we continue to work in this journey on the road of excellence.

"May this organization grow into a stable tree and spread its branches in all

directions"

Results:

It is concluded that the use of mixed chemical and organic N and P fertilizers

is beneficial for higher production of onion instead of chemical and organic fertilizer

uses separately.

II. Yash Activator plus Experiments:

Experiment 01:

In this experiment two plastic pots were filled with the kitchen waste and plant

waste (plant leaves and flowers) and one pot is treated with the Yash activator

thermophilic culture and other was untreated as control.

The treated pots were decomposed very rapidly and in about 3-4 weeks the

whole waste material decomposes as compost. In the other pot decomposition

process was very slow and lasted for a period of six months or more.

Control Treated with Yash Activator plus

Page 16: YASH KRISHI TAKNIKI EVAM VIGYAN KENDRA...1 14th ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2016 – 2017 YASH KRISHI TAKNIKI EVAM VIGYAN KENDRA (REGISTRATION NO.AL-16610 DATED 17TH JUNE, 2003) (April

Experiment 02:

The experiment was conducted at Narayan Vatika Village Kulhadhiya, Block

Kaudhiara, District Allahabad. In this experiment three NADEP pits were filled with

the Agricultural waste and plant waste and two NADEP pits were treated with the

Yash activator thermophilic culture and third was untreated as control.

The treated pits were decomposed very rapidly and in about 4-5 weeks the

whole waste material decomposes as compost. In the third pits decomposition

process was very slow which takes up to one year or more.

Results:

It is concluded that for the rapid decomposition of the kitchen waste, plant

waste and Agricultural waste the Yash activator thermophilic culture is very useful

because it works at mesophilic as well as high temperature at above 40 0C.

8. CSR Activity:

Ngo participates and helps in the social activities of Government, Non-

government Organizations and Cooperates. These organizations generally carry out

social benefit programs each year for the benefit of poor society. In these programs

generally they spent part of their profit. As they may have limitations of staff, so NGO

are associated in it. In 2016-17 following three CSR programs have been approved

by L & T Mumbai / Vadodara, gujrat to our NGO with efforts of Dr Namita gopal.

(i) Education through Technology

(ii) Bio degradable Waste processing through Vermi-composting units

(iii) Water through Hand Pump in Remote Areas.

These have been successfully carried out. Some details are given below.

Page 17: YASH KRISHI TAKNIKI EVAM VIGYAN KENDRA...1 14th ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2016 – 2017 YASH KRISHI TAKNIKI EVAM VIGYAN KENDRA (REGISTRATION NO.AL-16610 DATED 17TH JUNE, 2003) (April

17

a. Education through Technology

The audio visual aids with the help of VCD cassettes have been

provided in 25 schools in Vadodara district. These can be played with VCD

player and shown on big smart TV screen – which were also provided. In this

provision, the school children of class 1 to 8 can see their syllabus contents

as audio visually and understand their courses better. This gives better

understanding about the course to the children and hence they perform better

in exam as well as otherwise. This gave the benefit to about 5000-6000

students in 25 schools.

b. Waste management of Bio degradable through Vermi-composting units

Vermi composting is a simple and effective method of profitably disposing the

bio-degradable waste segregated by user and reducing the total amount of garbage

generated into soil enriches. A project is made with an idea of giving training to

children in schools for creating awareness in them regarding waste

management. Thus they can know as to how the waste can be converted to

resource for useful purposes like soil enriches. In this project, Bio degradable

Page 18: YASH KRISHI TAKNIKI EVAM VIGYAN KENDRA...1 14th ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2016 – 2017 YASH KRISHI TAKNIKI EVAM VIGYAN KENDRA (REGISTRATION NO.AL-16610 DATED 17TH JUNE, 2003) (April

18

waste can be converted to resource. Thus this type of waste which otherwise

is a nuisance can be converted useful resources.

In this project of waste management, the Ngo constructed several

chambers in 10 schools. The school waste was put in these chambers and

earth worms were introduced as per the conventional procedure of converting

bio degradable waste into soil improvers. The Javid Khad so produced can be

used in the school field /garden itself and thus provide a better method of

waste management. Apart from making elaborate arrangements for cleaning

the environment, it is imperative that waste is segregated at the collection

points and children are involved in the process. Once it becomes a habit, then

school children can spread the message and method of doing this at their

homes. This will go a long way in reducing the total garbage that is generated

daily in each city.

Such technique was provided in 10 schools and the children were

trained as to how they will maintain such facility. Teachers were also present

while giving this training. About 2000 children have been trained and

benefitted.

c. Water through Hand Pump in Remote Areas

One easy alternate way of piped water supply is Hand pump which is an excellent

alternative and conventional method of water supply. “Empowering remote areas or

villages by providing water through Hand pump” – A project, as suggested by “Yash

Krishi Takniki Ewam Vigyan Kendra – YASTK – an NGO”, was approved by L & T for 25

villages. In this facility, the villagers can have 24 hours water supply or as and when they

want. Thus with the help of L&T, YASTK provided hand pumps in Public Places at Remote

area in Villages to facilitate the people for supply of water. These have become very useful

device.

9. Technical Activities:

NGO has been active in providing and developing technical aspects as well

as interact with other similar organisations. Thus following activities were

provided in needy places/people.

a) Organisation of workshop on Javik krishi for the benefit of officials and members

of Allahabad Management officials. This was done at Naraina Vatika at kuladhia

village. There detailed talks were held by Dr.Pramila Gupta, Md.Hafiz and other
