contract.

4. Juel Anne Klepadlo, Key Club Advisor, and Wyoming Area Kiwanis, requesting permission to use the Secondary Center cafeteria for “Breakfast with Santa.”

5. Nancy Alberigi, Wyoming Area Ice Hockey Parents Association, requesting permission to use

the Secondary Center cafeteria for “Meet the Warriors.” 6. Len Costello, Marching Band Director, requesting for the district to pay for all or half of a

motor coach to Cavalcade of Bands Championships at Hershey Stadium. 7. Ken Radle submitting his letter of resignation as part time cleaning personnel. 8. Leandra Hosey, Wyoming Area Swim/Dive Team Parents Association, requesting permission

to use the Secondary Center cafeteria for “Meet the Swim/Dive Team and Coaches.” 9. Luanne Stach, Wyoming Area Senior Parents Association, requesting permission to use the

Secondary Center cafeteria and kitchen for pasta dinner and craft show. 10. Molly Kearns and Anne Wall, Secondary Teachers, requesting permission to attend the

13. Christine Rosenkrans, Director of Curriculum and Instruction requesting permission to

attend the Pennsylvania Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (PASCD) 64th Annual Conference in Hershey.

14. Right to Know Request submitted for a copy of the Ready to Learn Grant Application filed

with the Pennsylvania Department of Education. 15. Notification by Robert Pace of Pace Transportation, along with Angelo Falzone, Director of

Transportation, that by rearranging some bus routes they have saved the district $200.00 a day, which equates a savings of approximately $40,000.00 a year.

16. Len Galli of Galli’s Fighting Chance School of Self Defense, extending his appreciation to the

School Board for allowing him the use of the gymnasium for a tournament. 17. Leandra Hosey, President of the Wyoming Area Swim/Dive Team Parents Association,

requesting permission to hang banners/signs in the pool area. 18. Linda Hurwitz, Speech Language Pathologist, requesting permission to take a medical

sabbatical leave. 19. Mary Paglianite of Spotlight Dance Studio, requesting permission to rent the auditorium for

a Christmas recital. 20. Jean Marie Radle, Vice President of the Wyoming Area Cheerleading Parents Association,

requesting permission for the cheerleaders to bag groceries at Gerritys in West Pittston. 21. Jennifer Judge, Third Grade Teacher at SJD Elementary School requesting to take an unpaid

leave of absence.

WYOMING AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT

COMBINED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2014, 7:00 P.M.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

1. The Center for Schools and Communities, a division of the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit has reviewed and approved a $750.00 grant for our district. This grant can be used for the purchase of computer equipment, 1 year of internet service, or related software to improve our direct certification process. Congratulations to Melissa Collevechio.

2. Tenth Street Elementary conducted a Roll Out Presentation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. This is a world-wide, research based program, designed to reduce incidents of Bullying in our schools. The focus is on identifying Bullying Behaviors and using immediate interventions and proactive class meetings to support students. Tenth Street is the second building in Wyoming Area to roll out the program.

3. Jasmine Brooks from WBRE broadcasted live from WA from 5-7am on October 17th to promote homecoming activities and also our Celebrate My Drive campaign in which we partnered with State Farm Insurance

4. Jason Harlen, Director of Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services, Inc. held an informational program for parents.

5. At the Dallas/WA football game, the football team and coaches helped to celebrate a Dallas special needs student fulfill his dream by scoring a touchdown. This made ABC National News and Good Morning America.

6. Mr. Quaglia met with Bob Truscavage and John Bonin regarding their establishing a Foundation. Meetings will be regularly scheduled.

7. We held the initial meeting of WA CAN (Wyoming Area Career/Alumni Network). Those in attendance were given a copy of the job listing identified in the 16 Career Clusters from PDE to use as a starting point from where to begin to build our network.

8. The Wyoming Rotary Club came into all our elementary schools to give out new dictionaries to all of our 3rd grade students. We would like to thank the Rotary Club for their continued generosity in doing this for our students each year.

hour for the 2014-2015 school year. 5. Approve the request of Christine Rosenkrans, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, to
