2017 Term 1 Week 2

Dear Parents

Wow… the children have completed the 2nd week of school!

And they continue to be happy and excited in Kindy.

There are learning corners set up in the classrooms of Love 2, Joy and Peace.

These corners comprise many learning activities to facilitate the learning

of the children in a fun and exciting environment.

The children are rotated on a daily basis so that they complete different activities each day.

Love 2: 1 activity per corner

Joy & Peace: 5 activities per corner

Read on to find out more about activities at the learning corners.

We continue to explore Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia for this week. Peace Joy Love (1&2)

English Language & Literacy

- Info Time:

a) Children in school (e.g. school system, medium of instruction)

c) Mode of transportation to school (e.g. canoeing to school in Riau,

Indonesia crossing a suspension bridge in Lebak, Indonesia)

Mass Activity

It’s…

The children held hands and formed a big circle to prepare for the game!

Game play: Each class took turns to stand inside the circle.

When the music starts, those forming the circle will raise their hands and

the children in the circle will “fly” in and out the ‘”different ‘countries”.


Once the music stops, all hands will be down, trapping all those in the circle.

Aim of the game is to escape from the circle when the music stops!!

Love 1 & 2

BEAR HUNT

The Love children took turns to be hunters and bears!

Hunter’s role: AIM & SHOOT!

Each gun allows the hunter to make three shots.

They will shout “bang!” to indicate the shot.


Bears:

They are the ones standing opposite the hunters and will respond to each shot made by the hunter,

by jumping up high and going “Ahh!”.

Joy & Peace

Take a step forward,

bring both feet together,

then jump up high by stretching out theirs hands and straightening their bodies

This drill for the Peace & Joy children will help them gain strength and power in their jumps!

AHHH!!


The Joy children performed the same drill with the help of the hula hoops!

The hula hoops served as a guide for them to learn the stepping action prior to jumping up.

They also learnt to jump higher when they reached out for the teacher’s hands above their heads.

Aesthetics (Art/Craft)

With Chinese New Year just round the corner, the children made their very own speical Chinese New Year

decorations.

The Love 2 children made colourful fishes.

After choosing their favourite coloured fish… it was time to paint and sprinkle glitter on their fishes….


Once the fishes were dry… it was time for Part 2!

Choosing the coloured pipe cleaners which will form part of the tail.

Next, they had to thread the pipe cleaners through 5 holes at the tail…..

See their serious expression as they set out to complete this task!

Such great opportunity to develop their eye, hand coordination and fine motor skills.

Choosing their favourite coloured CNY greetings …. And Teacher helped them string these onto their fishes
