Formal ClassesFinish for Year 7-9Thursday 12th December
On Thursday 14th November, 73 year 10 students celebrated
completing their classes by dressing up and dancing away the
night at The Black Tie. Students went to a lot of trouble to get
themselves ready for the night and they all looked fantastic. The
venue was great. Thanks to the staff for making us feel
so comfortable.
There was nice food, some quick speeches, awards and prizes to
get things rolling. Then time to start the music. Some students
were up on the dance floor nonstop for the whole night and there
were lots of people up dancing at all times.
All too early it was time for students to be picked up and headhome to prepare for the next day at school!
Thanks to our Formal Committee and Pat and Jai who did
photography and music. Also a big thank you to our Year 10
teachers who all attended, even though the music may not have
been what they would have picked!

PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Term 4, no doubt the busiest termof the year!
We are having an extremely eventfulterm this year. The Year 8s areon camp at the Prom, Year 10, 11and 12 students have completed
their exams, Headstart has begun, and Years 7-9 begin their exams onMonday 2 December and concludethem on Monday 9 December.Afterwards they complete a number of
transition type activities/celebrations and the school termfinishes with Activity Days.
Meanwhile, teachers are frantically assessing studentwork, writing reports and running Headstart Activities.Students are tirelessly finishing work, submitting it andthinking about their holidays!
I would like to take this opportunity to remind students
to commit all their energy towards completing theirexams. The information we collate on student learningis used to measure how much individuals have grown intheir learning. We also use this information to inform our
teaching programs. A good example of this is if the datatells us that the majority of students already know how todo something, then we only focus on teaching that skill tothose who dont know. For this reason, it is vitally importantthat all students sit their exams and do their best.
On a personal note, I will be taking a years leave in 2014.
Some students, staff and parents may be aware that Ihave published a number of young adult novels. Theopportunity has arisen for me to focus on my writing bothas a writer and as a freelance editor. I am also excitedabout spending more time with my family. My work can beviewed at www.vayadauphin.com
Although I will miss the staff and students at WarragulRegional College, this is an exciting venture and one toogood to pass up, as well as a great chance to build myskills as a writer. I often tell the students, good writing onlyimproves with practise!
Have a wonderful Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

Language Perfect onbooklist for Japaneseand Indonesian
This is a new item on the
booklist in 2014. Havingaccess to Language Perfect
will allow students to remember vocabulary morequickly and as a result improve their writing, reading, speaking and listening skills. We will be using LP inclass and setting it as homework, but students canwork on it whenever they get the chance.
Please make sure you tick the Language Perfect boxunder Indonesian or Japanese on the booklist. Thiswill mean that your student will be ready to learnat the beginning of the year. If you dont pay for LP
with the booklist, you will need to organise onlinepayment with Landmark next year.
