Contacting the CollegeThe college switchboard number is 5623 9900.
Alternative means of contact are:
Fax: 5623 4473
Email: [email protected]
Mail: PO Box 213, Warragul 3820
The College Office will be open on Wednesday 22 January2014 from 10:00am - 3:00pm.
The Landmark Book Collection Day is on Wednesday,
22 January 2014 from 10:00am - 2:00pm.
The College Office will be closed on Thursday 23, Friday 24
and Monday 27 January 2014.
All year levels recommence classes on Thursday, 30 January 2014.
Student Pick Up and Drop OffAll students will be expected to be at school by 9.00am when
the locker bell sounds. Homegroup will commence at 9.05amsharp. The last class will finish at 3.15pm, with the exception
of Thursdays. On these days the final bell will be at 3.25pm.
All students in years 7 and 8 have their lockers in the A
and B wings. The closest area for these students to be
dropped off and later collected from school is in the Wills
Street carpark. A covered area extends along this car park
to provide shelter from the sun or rain. The Wills Street
car park is the preferred place for parents to deliver at the
beginning of the day, or collect students at the end of the
day. Please play your part in maintaining a safe environment
by complying with parking regulations, speed limits and
other traffic controls.
Before and After SchoolPlease note that with the exception of bus travellers, staff
supervision is not possible before 8.45 am and that students
are expected to leave promptly at the end of the day. Parents
are responsible for ensuing supervision at other times.
UniformIn developing and reviewing the uniform policy, the College
Council has been mindful of the need to have a functional,
comfortable and affordable uniform. The school believes
that the current college uniform is one that students are
encouraged to wear with pride in themselves and their school.
All students are expected to be in full school uniform from
the first day of school.
During the course of the year there may be exceptional
circumstances where students are unable to wear full
uniform on a particular day. On these occasions an
explanatory note from parents / guardians is required
indicating the uniform items involved, the reason for them
not being available and the anticipated duration of the out-
of-uniform period. Students who do not supply a note will begiven an after school detention. A note that does not provide
a valid reason for being out of uniform will result in the
student receiving a lunch time detention. For those families
seeking new supplies of uniform items, uniform items are
available at our parent operated Uniform Shop which also
stocks second hand uniform items.
The Uniform Shop will be open on Landmark Book
Collection Day (22 January 2014) from 10:00am till 2:00pm
and an extra day prior to term 1 on Wednesday 29th January
- 8.15am to 10.15am.
After this we will return to the normal opening times:
Tuesday 3.15pm to 4.15pm & Wednesday 1pm to 4pm.
In cases of financial hardship, please contact our College
Chaplain, Donna Hunter, or Iain Luck, Assistant Principal
(Student Services).
Uniform Policy - ShoesA number of our students have been coming to school
wearing inappropriate shoes.
Our college uniform policy states that no runners of any sort
are to be worn to Warragul Regional College, this includes
Globe and Skate shoes. Runners do not provide
students with foot protection that they need particularly
in practical subjects such as Foods, Technology, Arts and
Science.
As a college we are aware that some students have been told
that certain runners are appropriate for school wear by some
business houses in Warragul. All business houses have been
advised that this is not the case and never has been.
Also, a number of our female students have been coming to
school wearing inappropriate shoes, in particular, shoes that
are very open at the top and made of very thin leather.
Our college takes its duty of care to its students very
seriously. We believe that these shoes do not provide
students with the foot protection that they need, particularly,
in practical subjects such as Foods, Technology, Arts and
Science.
Black leather school shoes or boots (girls shoes must be of
T-Bar design at the very least and no runners/sneakers of
any sort) are the only appropriate shoes. The only reason(s)
accepted for a student being out of uniform with respect to
inappropriate shoes are:
shoes being repaired (short term only and only for
infrequent use) and
medical certificate (in these circumstances we expect
that black shoes be worn)
All students who are out of uniform will be required to see
their homegroup teacher.
Passes will then be issued and any student without an
acceptable reason will be given an after school detention.
Runners are not to be worn to or from school.
Should there be a case of financial hardship then please
contact the college for an interview so that agencies such as
the State Schools Relief Fund can be accessed.

Duty Of CareWe take our duty of care to each of our students very
seriously, and consistently update our records regarding
student Health and Wellbeing. There have been occasions
where the lack of information about individual students
has made it unnecessarily difficult to provide appropriate
treatment. Information about individual medical conditions
such as asthma, anaphylaxis, allergies, epilepsy, diabetes is
essential for our care of students. Any of these conditions, among others, can be a major concern for any family and
indeed any school which has a child affected by this condition.
If your child has any medical condition including those that
require medication then please ensure that you have notified
the college in writing (the enrolment form for year 7, 2014
satisfies this requirement), especially if your childs condition
has changed in the past year.
If your child is affected by anaphylaxis, would you please
contact the college to obtain an Action Plan for your doctor
complete. Forms are available from the College office and
should be returned urgently. The information provided will beused to brief and train our staff to care for your child.
Up to date contact information is also essential to enable
the college to contact parents in the event of an emergency.
If you have changed your contact details since your original
enrolment at the school, please confirm with us that we
have up to date information. Mobile phone numbers and
alternative carer / contacts are particularly important.
Allergies - AnaphylaxisStudents who are enrolled at our school may have
allergies to bees or peanut products. These allergies
can cause anaphylaxis.
While the school has an emergency management plan
developed, it is important to have preventative procedures
in place to minimise any likelihood of an incident.
As you know, all students need to have a safe environment at
school, and therefore I would like to ask the assistance of all
parents to establish a safe environment particularly for their
student. I am requesting that parents please notify the college
if your child suffers from anaphylaxis. This will make a major
difference in our preventative program and care of the student.
If any parents have questions or queries concerning this
request, please contact our School Nurse, Naomi Downing
on 5623 9900.
SunSmartSunSmart guidelines require that for students to be involved
in outdoor activities (including lunch time and recess) they
are required to wear a hat which is enclosed at the top and
has a brim of approximately 8cm all around.
Warragul Regional College has not introduced a uniform hat.
Students are permitted to wear a hat of their choice so long as it is:
enclosed at the top and
has an approximately 8cm brim all around and
carries no offensive logos or signs.
What To Bring On Day 1For year 7 to 12 students, timetabled classes commence on
their first day of school after a whole school assembly and
homegroup meetings.
Its Not Okay To Be AwayAttendance Information For Parents/Care Givers Frequently
Asked Questions About Attendance:What is my responsibility as a parent/caregiver? Make sure
your child:
attends school on ALL school days
is on time every day
Make sure you:
provide the school with an explanation if your child is
away
contact the school if your child does not want to go to
school - Absence line phone number 5623 9963
arrange doctor and dentist appointments out of school
hours
arrange personal shopping trips with your son/daughter
or birthday celebrations out of school hours
do not allow your child to stay at home for minor reasons
Attendance - Its not okay to be away.Daily student attendance is essential for your child to reach
their potential at school in 2014. Non-attendance at school
makes it difficult for students to complete work requirements
and consequently to pass subjects.
If your son or daughter is going to be absent for any reason
please telephone the school on 5623 9900 and tell us:
the name of the student
their homegroup
length of the absence
reason for the absence
Please follow this up with a note when the student returns
to school. A history of non-attendance at school through
unapproved or unexplained absences may lead to a review ofpromotion to the next year level.
Alternatively, parents can logon to our Compass system and
approve absences via the portal.
Late Arrival/Early DepartureIn some exceptional circumstances, such as medical or
dental appointments, students arrive late to school, or need
to leave early. Students arriving late are expected to bring
an appropriate note of explanation. This must be presented
at the office where they formally sign in. Students who need
to leave early are required to present an explanatory note to
their homegroup teacher / year level administrator, and then
sign out at the office.
