Why Appeasement?
1. France was demoralized, could not take on Hitler
2. Britain did not want to confront Hitler
3. Some thought the Treaty of Versailles was too hard on Germany
4. Others thought fascism was better than the spread of communism
5. Most opposed war

other if war breaks out. • Both would divide up eastern Europe.
