The Province of Turin plays a key role in the social and economic integration of the European Union, basing its actions on the principles contained in EU policies and building cooperation with local authorities and collective stakeholders in other EU States.
Main activities
-Coordination of European initiatives and projects
- Support for local actors in planning and managing European projects - Participation in Structural Funds programmes - Pro-active participation in European networks to facilitate exchange of information, good practices and launch of joint projects - Gathering, processing and diffusion of information in order to encourage the citizen’s involvement in EU and participation in EU projects, also through Europe Direct Torino (European Union’s official information centre) - Realisation of specific initiatives of sensibilization and training on topics of European interest.
Province of Turin – Department of Civil Protection
The tasks of the Province in terms of civil protection can be briefly summarized as follows:
- to adopt a provincial Program of Forecasting and Prevention, which is the document that identify situations of risk in the province useful for the assumption of preventive measures;
- to implement the program and plan emergency procedures by providing the provincial plan for civil protection;
- to create a structure of civil protection in the administration that involves not only the Provincial Civil Protection Service, but all areas and departments concerned;
- to participate in achieving the Regional System of civil protection;
- to establish, in collaboration with the Local Government, Mixed Operations Centers, where the event type 'b' requires the intervention of extraordinary means and resources;
- to supervise the provincial Civil Protection;
- to organize and manage volunteers.
WP4 activities – ProvTO in cooperation with PoliTO have worked on the following topics:
1. Territorial data collection: cartography,
natural and human hazard maps;
2. Infrastructures data collection: network graph, geometric characteristics, crash database, flow database;
3. New database formation and risk mapping;
4. Risk and Multi-risk analysis that include: • Hazard analysis, • Exposure analysis, • Vulnerability analysis.
WP6 activities – ProvTO is working on the following topics: •Network analysis •Simulation of accident/crash/instabilities/interruption (concentrated and distributed events) •Vehicles re-routing and network management during crisis events •development of a dedicated code for the management of emergency events that involve the road network •Frejus simulation test
