Dear Bulldog Parents,
I thought I would take my section this edition to give you as status update with
our air conditioning repairs. Your child has probably come home an informed
you of our warm and cool days lately.
To review my earlier communications, after the rental unit was brought in, the
Wilson facility started to experience some electrical issues that on one
particular day resulted in the fire department being called out. As a result of
that event, every motor and thermostat in the majority of our 30 classrooms
needed replacement. Over the past month all but 11 classrooms have had the
A/C cooling restored. The last 11 classrooms should be finished soon. This
week, on Wednesday, Wilson is scheduled to have brand new A/C chiller in-
stalled. Our 30 year old, broken down unit and the rental will be removed.
Thank you to all of the parents who brought in extra room fans for us to use
and for the staff and students for their extreme patience over the course of the
past 8 weeks. Glad we have had some cool days and a building that has so
many windows. Cross your fingers with me that all areas will be cooling by the
end of the month

Students from Wilson’s SADD Club will participate
in the Walk to End Lupus on May 6th
at Al Lopez Park.
Every year, SADD selects a charity to support and
the Lupus Foundation was selected this year by our
club leaders.
All Bulldogs are encouraged to either join the team
or make a donation. We have a goal of raising $1000
for the organization.
You can join online at the link below or you can con-
tact Ms. Sanchez to find out more information about
how you can get involved with this effort.

Wilson Middle School was well-
represented by some talented Bull-
dogs at this year's Student Literacy
and Media (SLAM) Showcase. Art
submissions were created by Kinslyn
Brady, Savannah Crook, Nitya Katwala,
Jessie Reffue, Madeline Ruyle and Mad-
ison Wall. Our quiz bowl team was
also in attendance. Johanna Barnett,
Noah Fisher, Henry Goulish and Isa-
bella Troxell competed against other
schools via Skype in a SLAM book
trivia contest. Attending students en-
joyed viewing art from students in all
grade levels from around the district.
They also were able to meet authors
James Ponti and Christina Diaz Gon-
zalez.
May 11th is the last day for students to check out books from the Media Center. Please make
sure that all books are returned to the Media Center by May 18th. To check if your child has
books overdue, you can check Cybercat.
Go to wilsonms.mysdhc.org>Resources>Media Center>Cybercat Wilson Search. Go to the
Borrower ID box in the upper right hand corner. Enter your child’s student id and hit EN-
TER. Find MY ACCOUNT under the Cybercat logo.
Our school is recognizing Autism
Awareness in April. We are answer-
ing questions posed on the morning
show each week for class
recognition. Thank you to the
Potantus family for providing blue
glow bracelets for
our students to
wear and the blue
puzzle piece pins for
the staff.

Last month we highlighted some of our 7th and 8th graders who came in early to school for
weeks to prepare for a visit to the Hillsborough County Courthouse. They created a mock
trial video to enter into the Law Week competition. Click the link below to access the
submission video posted on YouTube. Pretty awesome!

Thank you to the parents who were able to come out to the Spring Fundraiser hosted by
the Woodrow Wilson Foundation. A big shout out to parent Rich Whiteley and his band for
providing lovely music during a gorgeous sunset. Funds raised from this event will go
towards the purchase of a new sound system for the Wilson Auditorium!
Woodrow Wilson Foundation says Thanks!
