Woodburn Public School Shane’s Simplicities This week concludes our 2011 school year for students. Tonight we will gather to share our annual Presentation Evening and tomorrow night we will farewell our Year 6 students. The nights ahead are sure to be busy, but also enjoyable. Following our Year 6 Farewell on Thursday all students are able to join in the Farewell Disco between 7:00 and 9:00pm. This is not a fundraiser as such and only involves a small entry fee. There will be no food or drink on sale. Thursday – School is open for Business Please be advised that the NSW Teacher’s Federation Stop Work meeting announced for this coming Thursday will only cause minimal interruption, if any, among staff at our school. Our school will be operational and all students are expected to attend as normal. Classes 2012 With the consolidation of enrolment numbers for 2012 we will commence the new school year with 5 classes. Plans based on known enrolments at this stage will see a Kindergarten class, a year 1/2 multi-age class, a year 3 class and two senior multi- age classes. The final details for our senior classes is being developed as the teachers are hoping to work collaboratively to provide students with tailored learning experiences between the two classes. It is intended to have students working in explicit literacy and numeracy sessions that meet the student’s level of learning and provide them with positive and engaging activities that support and extend student achievement. Presentation Night I look forward to sharing with staff, students and families a wonderful end to our school year at tonight’s Presentation Evening. Rain Water TankOver the coming holiday break we hope to have a 20000 litre water tank installed to service our student toilet block. This will save us using our current water supply and save our rainwater simply running off as waste. This is another little project that will help to make a great school a little more environmentally friendly. (We are still awaiting news regarding solar installation.)

Safe and Happy HolidaysI wish all families the safest and happiest of festive seasons. To families leaving our school over the break I wish you all the best for whatever lies ahead. To new and returning families I look forward to students commencing school on Monday, January 30th, 2012.

Until next week......

Class Christmas PartiesAll classes will be having their class parties Friday December 16 following the No Talent Quest at approximately 12.30pm.

Children will need to bring a small plate of food to share with their class. It would be great if the plate could be a disposable plate or if you need to send in a container please ensure that it is clearly

marked so it can be returned.

Following the party all students K-6 will be going to the pool (2.10pm) for the remainder of the afternoon. Children will need to bring swimmers, rash shirt, towel, sunscreen and thongs. there will be

no charge for pool entry as this is a catch up from earlier in the year.

Class Teachers
