The funds raised from this event benefit OUR students and OUR school. Days like this take time, effort and commitment – they don’t just happen! Unfortunately so many of the P&C fundraising events are calling on the same few faces to carry the load and provide the benefits to all. Moving forward, it is hoped that we can see a greater sharing of the load with any P&C events, after all, the benefits are for ALL. That said, the band of hard workers that step up time and time again deserve our acknowledgement and thanks. We also appreciate the ongoing support of sponsors of these events who, despite the tough economic climate, help put prizes on the table. The Evans River Golden Oldies Rugby Club again cooked the BBQ to the appreciation of all who tasted their wares. It is also important that we acknowledge those who play on these days, both golfers and non-golfers alike, for being part of the fundraising initiative, especially those who gave a few extra dollars to the cause to take home a few extra goodies at the day’s end. The appreciation of our school and its’ importance to our community is clearly evident. Mid-Richmond Community of Schools Public Speaking Finals – staff recognition Last week we recognised the students of our school who participated in the annual Mid-Richmond Community of Schools Bookpacks $40 per student Voluntary Contributions $20 per student or $40 per family. Public Speaking Competition for their efforts and success. This week I wish to acknowledge the work of Miss Deisha Rose for her whole school based coordination, as well as all teachers for their work on speeches at the classroom level. Putting events like this on takes planning and effort. Miss Rose has allowed our school to put on a great show for all involved. In addition, Mr Steve Curtin, Principal of Broadwater PS, who coordinates this event in the background, continues to do a great job which benefits the students of all four schools involved. So many times, the things that make our schools great are ‘extras’ that staff willingly get involved in. For this, I extend the community’s thanks as these opportunities continue to enrich the experiences available to our students.

Enrolments for 2020Families considering an enrolment at Woodburn PS for 2020 are encouraged to contact the school to access an enrolment application. We are welcoming applications across all grades K-6 and starting to plan what 2020 will look like across our school. At this point in time we have approximately 13 enrolments for Kindergarten. We thank these families for returning these enrolment applications so diligently and look forward to all future applications as well.As with all years, there are families who will come and go before the year’s end. Our hope is to be fully aware of these changes so that we can make our planning decisions as accurate as possible. So, if you know of a new family coming to town, or if you may be leaving the area/school for the new school year, please let us know so we can take this into consideration. At this point in time it is our intention to continue operating 6 mainstream classes, two support classes and to have two designated teachers providing additional classroom support. The successes of our school in 2019 have been noted and this model of operation gives us the flexibility and opportunity to best cater to the learning needs of our students at all levels of their learning journey.

Sports News!!!!!Luke Stewart has qualified to attend the NSWPSSA State Athletics Carnival after placing second in the Senior Boys High Jump. This is an awesome achievement.Luke, along with Harry Healey, Oscar Healey and Hayden Grove, represented our school at the North Coast PSSA Athletics Carnival last Friday.

All four students represented us proudly and deserve our recognition. Well done boys!!!

Until next newsletter…..

“My favourite fairy tale is Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It is my favourite because Goldilocks learnt her lesson about taking and using things that were not hers. I also like fairy tales that have a

castle as their setting.” ~ Aliyah ~

“My favourite fairy tale is Little Red Riding Hood. The funniest part of the story is when the wolf dresses up as Grandma. A

fairy tale starts with, Once upon a time.” ~ Scarlet ~

“My favourite fairy tale is Jack and The Beanstalk. It is my favourite because the giant is scary and disgusting. He is scary because he is loud and tries to eat Jack. A fairy tale ends with,

happily ever after.” ~ Heidi ~

“My favourite fairy tale is The Gingerbread Man. I like it when the Gingerbread Man sings run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread man. Every fairy tale

has an evil character.” ~ Ben ~
