WOOD STAIN - INTERIOR SOLVENT BASED DYE SOLUTION Staining is merely a means of adding color to wood. Staining may be used to darken the wood, to bring out a grain pattern, to make one variety of wood look like another or to accent details or fixtures of a piece of furniture. Sheenlac Wood stains are Transparent type consist of Dyes and solvent and recommend for Interior wood work. INSPIRING CREATIVITY FEATURES & BENEFITS: TECHNICAL DATA Ÿ 14 vibrant wood tones available for Interiors. Ÿ All are Inter-mixable and create new desired tone as per one's taste. Ÿ Solvent-based wood stains won't raise the grain on the wood, so you won't need to worry about sanding the finish. Suitable for Wood furniture, cabinets, doors, windows, wall paneling, trim but it is not recommended for exposed Exteriors. RECOMMENDED USE Appearance – Low viscous colored liquid. Color – Available in 4 different tones. Odour – Characteristic alcohol type. Solubility – Immiscible with water. Finish – Not applicable. Gloss level (60° head) – Not applicable. Flash Point – above 12 °C Spreading rate – The practical spreading rate will vary depending on the porosity and profile of the substrate, as well as the application technique and tools used. Shelf Life – 36 months from the date of production in unopened condition and, stored at the recommended storage condition. Surface Preparation: Allwood surfacesmust be clean, firm

anddry.Removeanyoil,grease,mortardroppings,etc.

NEW WOOD:Sandinthedirectionofthegrain,toasmooth

finishwith150followedby220gritpaper.Removedustwitha

dampcloth.

PREVIOUSLY VARNISHED WOOD IN GOOD

CONDITION:Sandtoobtainasmoothsurfaceusing150grit

emerypaper.Removeallsandingdustusingavacuumorcloth

dampenedwithmineralspirits.

PREVIOUSLY VARNISHED WOOD IN POOR

CONDITION: Strip completely by deep sanding or by using

Sheenlac Paint Remover. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Deepsandtountilthereisnoevidenceofanyresidue.Remove

dustwithadampcloth.

WOOD PREVIOUSLY COATED WITH WAX

SEALER/OIL BASED WOOD PRESERVATIVE:

Mechanically sand until there is no evidence of residue.

Removedustwithadampcloth.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED WOOD: Strip old paint by deep

sandingorbyusingSheenlacPaintRemover.Rinsethoroughly

withcleanwater.Sandbarewoodtoasmoothfinish.Remove

dustwithadampcloth.

STAIN ON THE BARE WOOD – Adding stain to bare or

stripped wood can both change the color and highlight the

grainpatternofanyinteriorwoodbutthisisanoptional.Apply

Sheenlac SBWood stains by rubbing or brushing against the

directionofthegrainwillhelpfilldeepporeswithstain.Apply

aliberalamountofstain,givingthewoodanampleamountto

absorb.Allowtodryfor30-60mins.

STAIN ON SEALER – A thin coat of NC sanding sealer on

barewoodwillactasawoodconditionerandthiswillenhance

theuniformspreadingofstain.SpraySheenlacwoodstainover

theconditionedwoodtillthedesiredcolordepthreached.

Application Method:

Staining dramatically and permanently changes the wood'sappearance,soalwaystestastainbeforeapplyingonanareaofthepiecethatwon'tshow--suchasthebottomorbackofafurniture.Becauseeachstainproducesadistinctivelookondifferent typesofwood, it's crucial touse a scrap from thesamewoodasthefurniture ismade. If thetest-piece looksblotchywhenyouapplystain,thenfirstapplyaliberalcoatofSheenlacLacquersandingsealerasawoodconditionerabout15minutesbeforestaining.

Applymorestainifyouwishtodarkenthewoodfurther.Asitdries, the stained finish may take on a dull look. A freshappearance will return when finish is applied later. Do notsand the stained surface as this will lead to patch anddifferentcolordepth.

Clean up: Cloths and soiled ragsmay self-ignitewithoutwarning. Wash out well in warm soapy water beforedisposal.Remove as much product as possible from applicationequipmentpriortocleaning.
