of the land. Their fur-
lined garments and long
wide gowns with
embroidery on the
edges are beautiful.
Their fitted tunics and
hose reflect their
personal style as well as
social class. Royals arethe only ones allowed to
wear purple or gold silk.
During these times of
the crusades more and
more fine silks, satins,
damasks, brocades,
velvets and broaches
are being brought to our
land. We hoard theviciously but for good
reason. The more jewels
and satin you wear the
higher you are on the
social ladder. The form
fitting shape with tight
lacing and corsets are
also popular currently
and although it makes it
hard to breathe it gives
you a wonderful shape
that the men love. The
pointed headdress and
double horn is also
currently in fashion with
different type and size
veils depending on the
woman. Shoes,
although sometimesuncomfortable were
pointed with
exaggerated toes.
Leather studded belts
show signs of money as
well as gloves. Broaches
and rings were also a
sign of royalty or high
upper class.

To the scribe of this
magazine,
As the wife of a
noble lord I have many
duties that I am
responsible for for my
daily duties. As my
daily routine I begin by
attending mass at
dawn with our morning
prayers. Then my
ladies in waiting serve
me and pick out my
outfit. I dress and eat
breakfast in the main
dining hall. The we
discuss tournaments,
betrothals, marriages,
oetr and courtl

the day I oversee the
education of young
girls that have been
sent to my household
to learn manners and
get a good education.
Sometimes when my
husband is away I look
over the finances andcollect the rent, as well
as supervising the
farming and settling
disputes. After these
discussions I have a
midmorning meal and
prayers. Then I attend
to my housewifely
duties supervising the
meals and stores. After
my regular duties I
sometimes have leisure
time for dancing
practice and
embroidery. I have an
evening prayer with a
nighttime meal and
then entertainment,
including music,dancing, juggling,
acrobatics, and jesters.
Before bed I have final
nighttime prayers and
my day is through. I
begin this over again
the next day, as
routine is very
important to oursociety. This routine,
although proper and
important is tiresome
and I wish for more
activity within my daily
routine. Please help
me.
