CREEPY CRAWLIES
During the Wizards & Witches Express event at The Workshops Rail Museum, the Museum is filled with
lots of creepy crawlies. Some of these are spiders and snakes:

Snakes are cold-blooded reptiles that have no legs. They are close relatives of lizards. Snakes are
carnivorous; this means they eat meat. They do not chew their food; they swallow it completely using
their flexible jaws. Their skin is covered in scales and they shed their skin in one piece like a sock when
they outgrow it. Snakes can be dangerous if they are venomous, some snakes have enough venom to kill
small animals and others have enough to kill an elephant.

Spiders are arachnids – they have eight legs, piercing jaws and spin webs made of silk. Spiders come in
many shapes and sizes; some are so small we never see them; others are so large they are as big as
dinner plates. Spiders live in different places all over the world and they survive mainly on a diet of other
insects.
