Open your 2011 Turbo Tax Federal return.

1) Go to Federal Taxes tab and click on Other Tax Situations

2) On the Other Tax Situations screen, scroll down to Other Tax Forms and click Start button next

to Amend a Return.

3) On the We’ll Guide You Through Your Amended Return screen, click Continue.

4) On the Have You Already Filed This Return? screen, indicate both “Yes, I need to amend a

return I already filed” and “I was contacted by TurboTax and told I may need to amend.”

5) The next screen will ask you about your original federal return.

6) Even though you won’t be amending your federal return, go ahead and enter the amount you

paid or the refund you received on your original federal return and click Continue.

7) The next screen will ask you about the original state refund you received or the amount you

paid on your original state tax return. See examples below.

8) This is an example of a state screen asking about the amount paid on your original return.

9) You can find the amount you paid from your original Wisconsin tax return on Form 1, line 54.

10) Here is an example of a state screen asking about your original refund received. Don’t forget

that it’s the full refund prior to applying any of it to your 2012 tax return.

11) You can find the amount of your refund from your original Wisconsin tax return on Form 1, line 51.

12) Verify your Wisconsin amount; if not correct, enter the correct amount and click Continue.

the clergy housing allowance from Box 14 of the federal Form W-2 was incorrectly included as

qualifying earned income for the calculation of the Wisconsin Married Couple Credit. This

incorrectly increased the Married Couple Credit amount on Wisconsin Form 1, Line 30. This

amended return shows the correct credit amount on Form 1, Line 30, and does not include the

clergy housing allowance amount as qualifying earned income for computing the credit.

14) The next screen is About Your Amended Federal Return. Since you are not amending your

federal return, click Continue.

You now have to answer a few more questions for your state amended return.
