HOW DID THE IDEA OFEDGE STUDIOS START?

“IntraEdge, our parent company, has been providing Web, mobile and emerging-technology services for a

while now. The problem we faced was that it was difficult to properly communicate what we do. When

we told clients, both existing and new, that an IT staffing and consulting company provided digital

services such as user experience, design, etc., we often received puzzled looks …

It finally dawned on us that we weren’t talking about ourselves properly. Our team was not only special and unique, but creative and strategic, like a digital agency within a company. We needed a better way to express ourselves. This inspired us to distinguish ourselves as

something different–something that conveyed the cool stuff we do on a daily basis. That’s when we decided to

rebrand the digital team as Edge Studios.”

WOULD YOU EVER TURN DOWN A PROJECT AND WHY?

“Sometimes there are projects that may be just too small to take on. Although it is very rare that we

wouldn’t be interested, sometimes it’s just merely a matter of overhead. Spinning up a dedicated team has an associated cost that we must be cognizant of if we

ourselves want to succeed. While this does not happen often, it does happen. In this case, we would

recommend someone we felt could effectively handle the scope of the project for a lesser cost …

There are also projects that may just not be in our wheelhouse. When that happens, we are able to pull

from our solid pool of experienced, knowledgable technology consultants to deliver a solution, no matter what technology is required. As a partner, if we cannot meet client needs, we are upfront and will recommend

another company that may be able to help. Again, although rare, sometimes partners need partners, too,

and we’re not afraid to admit it by guiding clients to another source.”
