why bother?
DESCRIPTION
The enemy is always trying to plant a "why bother?" in place of your "it's possible." This is a sermon about a man who believed Jesus could do the impossible--in spite of receiving bad counsel from his friends. He ignored their advice "not to bother Jesus," and it led to the best day of his life. Jesus is able to do far more than we can ever imagine, but he promises to do it "according to OUR faith." (Mt 9.29)TRANSCRIPT
The enemy is always going to plant a “Why bother?” in the face of your “It’s possible.”
Matthew 9.29
According to your faith, it will be done unto you.
Mark 5:35 (NIV) 35While Jesus was still
speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus,
the synagogue ruler. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher any more?”
Mark 5:36 (NIV) 36Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, “Don’t be afraid; just
believe.”
Believe in your beliefs and doubt your doubts.
Why are you calling a situation dead that God sees
as an opportunity for a resurrection?
Mark 5:37 (NLT) 37Then Jesus stopped the
crowd and wouldn’t let anyone go with him except
Peter, James, and John (the brother of James).
Mark 5:38–39 (NLT) 38When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus
saw much commotion and weeping and wailing.
39He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and
weeping? The child isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.”
Mark 5:40–41 (NLT) 40The crowd laughed at him. But he made them all leave,
and he took the girl’s father and mother and his three disciples
into the room where the girl was lying.
41Holding her hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means “Little girl, get up!”
Mark 5:42 (NLT) 42And the girl, who was twelve
years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were
overwhelmed and totally amazed.
