Veils of Arabia Belly Dance

What will we be learning?

Correct posture for Belly Dance,

Fundamental movements including Shimmy, Camel , travelling steps and figure 8’s,

Learning to dance with performance props such as veils is a specialty at Veils of Arabia and may be

taught throughout the year.

You will also learn a fun choreography!

Costs Beginner

Adult—$70 per term or $15 1st lesson $11 per lesson

thereafter Child (under 12)—$60 per term or $9 per lesson

Minor (under 8)—$45 per term or $8 per lesson

Beyond Beginner/Intermediate $55 per term or $11 per lesson

About Veils of Arabia Belly Dance

Veils of Arabia was founded in late 2002, starting out as a small performance troupe with just 3

members. Since then it has evolved and grown to include children's, beginner, beyond beginner,

intermediate and advanced classes for those who wish to belly dance for fun and fitness as well as

catering to those who wish to perform publicly. Within these classes there are women of

all ages, body shapes and sizes. Classes are designed to be fun and enjoyable while still learning the

correct technique and posture for Belly Dance. Veils of Arabia is Gladstone's leading troupe of

professional Belly Dancers. Veils of Arabia dances to a wide variety of Arabic, Turkish, Lebanese and

Modern music. Props are also used for performances and a few are canes, zills, veils,

candles, Wings of Isis and swords. Melanie, the principal

teacher has been performing and teaching Belly

Dance since 1999. She has learnt Belly Dance from some

of the best Australian and Overseas instructors. In 2012,

she travelled to Istanbul, Turkey to participate in the Tarazade Festival to learn

from World Masters of Belly Dance.

Melanie also conducts

costume workshops and sells a wide range of Belly Dance costumes, hip

scarves and accessories.
