What Tests Do I Need to Take?
Concordia University MAT applicants are required to have taken and passed a Basic Skills Test (EAS, CBEST, Praxis I, or WEST-B) prior to being admitted to the program. Several additional tests, listed below, are also required for teacher licensure. Candidates cannot begin their practicum experience until passing scores have been presented on all required tests. We STRONGLY encourage applicants to complete the required tests BEFORE they begin the program.
Note: Testing is not required prior to application. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Planning Ahead & Study GuidesSome candidates may need to retake one or more sections of the tests. It is highly recommended to look at the testing dates prior to the application deadline for extra test dates if needed. Passing EAS, CBEST, PPST, C-PPST, or WEST-B scores must be submitted prior to admission. Completed applications will be given priority.
Study guides for the tests are available online at the testing companies’ websites, or at major bookstores.
Testing OptionsTests are now offered in the computer-based form and, for some, the paper-based form. If a test is paper-based, you will go to a site to take the test on pre-set dates offered throughout the year. Computer-based tests are offered “on-demand” and provide a bit more flexibility. To register for a test, visit the respective testing company’s website. If your desired date is available, a seat will be reserved in your name for that date. Both computer and paper-based test times get booked to capacity. Therefore, it is extremely important that you plan ahead and schedule the tests on your calendar.
