It is located between Casablanca and Mohammedia, along the Atlantic coastline over 5,35 km with a depth of 3,5 km from the sea to the highway. Zenata is strategically located between the two largest cities of the Kingdom: Rabat and Casablanca, and at the crossroads of numerous hubs and infrastructures such as roads, railways and air routes.

Zenata is a territory spread over 5 000 acres (1 830 ha) which will host the future first Moroccan Eco-City: Zenata New City. This major and patriotic project, for the region and the country, will offer to the current and future inhabitants a better quality of life as well as a promising future.

What is the project genesis?On February 11th, 2006, a Memorandum of Understanding signed under the High Presidency of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, had mandated the “Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion Group (CDG)”, through its subsidiary “Société d’Aménagement Zenata (SAZ)” for the conception and land development of Zenata New City. SAZ is also the guarantor of the overall coherence of the project and its implementation. Today, Zenata is the largest urban project of CDG Group.

What is the project vision?Zenata, has the ambition to reduce the existing socio-economic unbalances between the East (Sidi Bernoussi) and the West (Anfa city center) of Greater Casablanca Region through a social and spatial mix.This project of public utility aims to raise the economic capital to the rank of a great international metropolis.

What will Zenata look like?Zenata will be a modern and dynamic service city targeting mainly middle income households. It will create 100 000 jobs and host 300 000 inhabitants – in compliance with the international standards of sustainable development of 1 job for 3 inhabitants. Zenata will provide high value-added activities that will contribute on a regional, national and international level.

But most of all, Zenata will be a human scaled city with a real neighborhood way of life.

What are these activities?Zenata New City development focuses on 4 iconic activities organized through productivity zones. These activities represent strong potential growth for a continuous urban development:

A 10 ha integrated health centerA 20 ha education centerA 120 000 m² GLA on a 20 ha surface supra regional commercial center. It is expected for 2016 and will o�er shops and leisure mainly targeting the middle income householdsA 200 ha logistics center launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on May 2010 and carried by the National Ports Agency

What is a “Better Living” in Zenata?

Zenata New City will o�er numerous advantages to its inhabitants to improve their daily life: jobs, education, health, training, culture, pleasant living conditions, activities, sports and leisure, transporta-tion, proximity of nature, accomodation and a better connectivity with Casablanca and Mohammedia.

“Better Living” in Zenata is the output of an eco-design process which consists of several thinkings that limit environmental impacts all along the project’s life cycle. The human-being is at the heart of eco-design.
