• A responsive design allows for a site’s layout and content to adapt and respond to the screen resolution on which it is being rendered.
• The backend code is the same, yet it is rendered differently as the screen resolution changes.
Responsive Design What is it?
• Reduces the need to spend valuable time maintaining separate desktop and mobile sites
• Creates the ability to make changes once and have those changes reflected across different platforms
• Mobile is no longer an afterthought but becomes a fundamental part of the design and development
• Makes the end-user experience more consistent across platforms
Responsive Design Advantages
• It’s not a solution that makes sense for all websites
• Ads are served differently on mobile and desktop sites which impact the ability to be responsive
• True mobile sites can have certain features or functionality that don’t translate well with responsive design (ie. LinkedIn iPad app).
• Not adequate for App-like mobile HTML 5 sites which can be more complex.
