The Objective: Design a 12” x 12” cube, that must support 20 pounds of weight.

I was inspired by a baseball the laces on a baseball became my supporting interior walls. I envisioned the baseball extruded into a clear cube, I chose blue as my base to enhance my design. The material I chose was Plexi glass and I used a blow torch and silicone to construct the cube.

The objective of this assignment was to draw a pair of pliers in free hand. Composi-tion was crucial in the placement of the plans, sections, and elevations.

The Objective: Draw a pair of pliers hard using drafting tools in hard line, and show mo-tion in composition.

Course description: gave me the opportu-nity to travel to Chicago and experience great examples of architecture first hand. The course was focused on historic preserva-tion and sustainability. I attended a lecture at the Chicago Historic Landmark division. I also gained a better understanding of the process of registering a building a historic landmark. Sustainability and historic preser-vation go hand in hand because the most sustainable building is the already built one. I also toured the green roof on top of the Chicago City Hall.

The Objective: Build a model of the Robie House to scale and draw sketches.

DACC/NMSU Shade StructureARCH 170 Computers in ArchitectureProfessor Luis RiosSketch and Sketch-up ModelThe Objective: Design shaded solar powered study stations to be placed throughout cam-pus. The structure(s) must seat eight people and provide lighting and power to charge elec-trical devises. The structure(s) must also support the solar panels and have room to house electrical equipment.

I chose to use pre-cast concrete tubes for my design because they could be reused making for a more sustainable design. I designed the tubes to seat two people so a number of these can be placed on a site. The tubes can be set in place with concrete footings and each one can support a solar panel.

The objective: Study the painting by Jackson Polock #8 and select three cubed sections of the painting that became plan, section, and elevation. From those three cubes design action models showing tension, suspension, and collision. The final action model space had the overall dimensions of 8” x8” x8” , and was derived from the painting by Jackson Pollock #8.

The Objective: Design a space on a sloped terrain that is inspired by a musical piece. The sloped terrain also has a river running through the southeast side that I had to consider in the design. The music, piece that inspired the design was a piano piece “Anything is possible” by Shane Walsh. The first models was then evolved into the final model setting. The materials used include birch wood, sand paper, and mat board.

The objective: Design and build a presentation stand out of wood. The maxi-mum height of the stand is thirty six inches, with a surface space of 20” x 12”. Also required was a space to place a pamphlet size 6” x 10”. The stand was constructed without the use of glue only using slotted construction.

Design Competition Art Gallery/ Coffee House at 417 W. Court Ave.Studio 2Professor Julia KirtonProject 1-4The Objective: Design an addition to historic building in Las Cruces and convert it from a resi-dence to a art gallery/ coffee shop. The semester long project ended in a design competition for the best overall design of the addition. First we measured the existing building as a group and created CAD drawings of the historic building. We as a group also built a site model of the surrounding neighborhood. The second assignment was individual because the building is in a historic neighborhood we studied the history of Las Cruces and created a collage from that his-tory. The collage then inspired the six study object models incorporating different elements of the cities history. I then married two of my study models together to create a final concept model that drove my design of the structure and roof of my addition. We as a group researched that it would take to change the building type, rezoning, and what the restrictions where for working with a historic building. My final design incorporated the ballet folkloric dress and the Santa Fe railroad that came through Las Cruces. I won the design competition and I am glad that my design will be considered when the building is constructed.
