1-POINT PERSPECTIVE DRAWING:

2 main points to consider in 1-Point Perspective:

HORIZON LINEThe Horizon Line represents the viewer's eye level. The Horizon Line is the place where the ground and the sky seem to meet.

VANISHING POINTThe Vanishing Point is always located on the Horizon Line. As things get closer to the Vanishing Point they get smaller and smaller until they appear to vanish.

Exercise:1

First, draw a horizon line about 1/3 down your page. Use a small dot to mark a spot roughly in the middle of the line. This is your vanishing point.

Exercise:1

Now draw a square or rectangle below and to one side of your vanishing point.Make sure your vertical lines are perpendicular to the horizon line. Make sure your horizontal lines are parallel to you horizon lineMake sure your lines are neat and straight.

Now draw a line from each corner of your square/rectangle to the vanishing point.

Draw lightly to be able to erase later.

Draw the back horizontal and vertical edge lines a little behind your square/rectangle.

Make sure to draw straight !!!

Now you can erase the unnecessary vanishing lines.

Class Assignment:

Using a pencil, eraser, and ruler, lightly sketch a perspective drawing which goes far into the distance.

Ex: Street view, Bridge, Hallway, Nature scene, landscape, etc.

When you are done, darken your final lines, and add colour to your picture/painting.

Use the pictures in this presentation as inspiration.
