DRAWING IN PERSPECTIVE The problem in drawing is projecting a 3-dimensional world onto a 2-dimensional surface (your paper)

Drawing in PERSPECTIVE allows the artist to give the illusion of DEPTH !

1-POINT PERSPECTIVE DRAWING:

2 main points to consider in 1-Point Perspective:

HORIZON LINEThe Horizon Line represents the viewer's eye level. The Horizon Line is the place where the ground and the sky seem to meet.

VANISHING POINTThe Vanishing Point is always located on the Horizon Line. As things get closer to the Vanishing Point they get smaller and smaller until they appear to vanish.

1-POINT PERSPECTIVE DRAWING:

USEFUL TIPS:

Every line that is drawn must do one of the following:

• Be Vertical

• Be Horizontal

• Extend to the Vanishingpoint from the viewer

1-POINT PERSPECTIVE DRAWING:

USEFUL TIPS:

Your Vanishing Point and Horizon line do not always have to be centered in the middle of your page

1-POINT PERSPECTIVE DRAWING:

USEFUL TIPS:

Not everything has to go off into an infinite distant vanishing point !

Ex: A room with a back wall.(there still is a vanishing point)
