2- 1 Operative modes

Turn -on and turn -off Keep pressed the On/Off button, the turn-on of the display and the test of every led indicate that the controller is ON. In Master/Slave mode, the turning-on of one controller automatically turns-on the other one. Press On/Off to turn-off, on the display appears the Off indication and after 2 seconds the controller turns-off, or it goes in a stand-by state with low absorption if a programmed start is in memory or if the GSM or Master/Slave mode is enabled. In Master/Slave mode, the turnign-off of one controller automatically turns-off the other one. With the board off, the remote start allows the turning-on of the board and the start of the generator (in Master/Slave mode the remote start must be connected to the Slave board). Sending the START message via GSM, the board, if off, turns-on then starts the generator. Once stopped the generator, the board turns-off. If the supply is disconnected, at the turn-on the date and time screen will appear only if a programmed start or GSM is active. N.B: The Master/Slave mode and GSM can be used alternatively, because they need the connection to the unique serial port of the board. In case of Master/Slave communication, the GSM function is automatically disabled. Manual: - Start is possible in one of the following procedures: 1) Pressing and releasing quickly the start button 2) Keeping the start button pressed, you command the manual start following this procedure:

a) If the preheat is enabled, the board begins with the preheat for the set time and mode. The START symbol appears and also the preheat icon (if enabled). Keeping the Start button pressed, you immediately command the electrovalve and then the output the governs the cranking motor, that will remain active until the button will remain pressed. There is a security procedure that disables automatically the signal to the cranking motor when the starting procedure is succesfully completed, or if a time of 10 seconds has expired from the beginning of the procedure.

b) If the preheat is disabled, the controller immediately commands the electrovalve and then the output the governs the cranking motor, that will remain active until the button will remain pressed. There is a security procedure that disables automatically the signal to the cranking motor when the starting procedure is succesfully completed, or if a time of 10 seconds has expired from the beginning of the procedure.

3) Sending the START message via GSM - Stop is possible in one of the following ways: 1) Pressing the stop button you enable the stop procedure. The stop procedure is possible in two modes:

a) Keeping the stop button pressed for 5 or more seconds: the engine enters the cooling phase until you release the button, then stops.

b) Pressing and releasing quickly the stop button the stop procedure is done immediately without cooling. N.B: The described procedure can be reversed (see menu 3-3.12). 2) Sending the STOP message via GSM Automatic: The controller is in automatic mode only in these two cases:

a) When it detects that the remote start/stop request is present. In this case, the stop procedure can be done removing the remote start/stop signal, or pressing the stop button, or pushing the emergency button, or via GSM. Otherwise, if a stop procedure is commanded because the programmed Timer start/stop cycle ends, if the remote signal is still present, this stop request is automatically ignored.

b) When a programmed start is commanded by Timer start/stop. In this case the stop procedure can be done if the cycle finishes, or pressing the stop button, or pushing the emergency button. If a remote signal is not present, the system continues the cycle until the programmed end. It doesn’t stop if e remote signal is present.

If enabled, the preheat is done in the mode and time you set. In the stop phase, the engine enters the cooling procedure (showed on display) then stops the engine.

WARNING: To work on the generator safely, press the emergency button or disconnect the battery, to prevent accidental starting by remote or via GSM.

Bleeding function: The special function “bleeding” is available. To activate it, keep pressed for 5 seconds both the arrows “left” and “right”. Once activated, it allows the activation, with engine OFF, of the electrovalve output. The electrovalve symbol will appear on display. The electrovalve will remain supplied until the stop button is pressed. After 10 minutes, the output will be de-activated anyway.

3- 2.8 MODBUS setup

3- 2.7 GSM setup

POS. NAME DESCRIPTION RANGE OF VALUES

DEFAULT VALUES

1 ADD.MODBUS It allows you to set the modbus address. 1-127 1

2 BAUD RATE It permits to set the speed of the transmission during the communication. 9600-57600 [bps] 9600

It allows you to enable (ON) or disable (OFF) the GSM connection. The default is OFF. It will be automatically disabled if the board is set as Master or Slave (see menu 3-2.9).

ON

1-ADD.MODBUS 2-BAUD RATE

3- 2.10 Auto turn -off setup

It allows to set a time for a turn-off function. With engine OFF, if no button is pressed, after this time the TE2010 turns-off automatically. If you set this parameter to 0, the auto turn-off function is disabled.

In this menu you can set the parameters of the Modbus communication via RS232/RS485. These settings are necessary for the remote control by PC with TE2010-Monitor. When you set the COM port on the PC for the remote control, you need to set the same transmission speed (baud rate) as parameter 2 of this menu.

3- 2.9 Master/Slave setup

It allows to set the controller for the Master/Slave communication via RS485 (see terminals on page 5). Follow these steps:

1) Set as “Master” if the controller is used only as a remote panel, “Slave” if the board is mounted on the panel on the machine and can be commanded by another TE2010 (Master), “OFF” if the board is used in local and is not commanded by other devices. In the Master/slave communication, the master controller can start and stop the generator, can modify the parameters, and visualizes all the informations (leds, alarms, measures) that appear on the slave controller on the machine.

2) Set in menu 3-2.8 the same address and baud rate in the Master and Slave controllers, or the communication is not allowed.

3) If you want to use 1 Master and more Slaves, the address that you set in the Master side permits to choose which of the slaves you want to communicate with.

A Current value to activate the current overload alarm. 0-65535 [A] 0

B

It permits to set the value that can be considered as short-circuit current. To avoid that the current transformers arrive to the saturation point, distorting the current measure, we suggest to set this value at max 2,5 times the nominal current of the CTs. For example, for CT 500/5, set at max 1250 A.

0-65535 [A] 0

C

It permits to set the Current Transformers ratio, in accordance to the current transformers used. For example, if you install current transformers 100/5A, you must set parameter to “20” (because 100:5 = 20)

0-999 20

D

You can set the number of ampermetrics. It’s strictly connected with the type of system, settable in the voltage menu (3-4.1). For single-phase systems the value is fixed at 1. For three-phase systems it’s possible to set at 1 if only one CT is connected. In this case all the power measures refer to this current reading (for balanced loads). If set to 3 you must use 3 CTs and the measures are effective.

4- 1 GSM communication - Connection preliminary operations

The controller is equipped with a TE2010 GSM system easy to use. You can easily connect the GSM modem through a serial cable male-female. This cable consists of two connectors, a female connector for the TE2010 (A) and a male connector for GSM side (B).

A B

Connect the cable (male connector) at the GSM as shown in the picture:

On the TE2010, remove the protection (C) of the serial port on the back of the board, then connect the serial cable.

4) SIM card settings

a) Insert the SIM card in the GSM modem as shown in the picture. b) You have to set one or two numbers to use for the communication via GSM. To do this, with any mobile phone,

send a SMS to the number of the SIM card inserted in the GSM modem: SET1 +391234567 inserts the number +391234567 in position 1 of the phone book SET2 +397654321 inserts the number +397654321 in position 2 of the phone book

These numbers will be able to communicate with the TE2010-GE. Remember to set the complete number (with +39 for Italy for example, depending on the location).

5) Settings on the controller To enable the GSM communication, you have to activate it in the GSM menu of the controller (see menu 3-2.7). Setting to ON that parameter, you enable the communication.

ON

At the end of the operations, disconnect and re-connect the battery to the board and to the modem.

6) LED diagnosis When you power up the GSM modem, the LED flashes to show that it is running. Also, after switching on: - For a few seconds, it blinks slowly every 1 second: normal condition of pre-operation - After a few seconds after supply, it starts flashing every 2-3 seconds: normal condition, operation enabled - If it continues to blink slowly, something may be wrong. Possible causes:

- SIM card not included - PIN is not disabled - GSM signal absent or very low, try to change the place where the antenna is located

7) Final checks If the modem has been set correctly, connect the battery to the controller and turn-on the board. Check the GSM page (see menu 2-3.13): after few seconds you should see the OK symbol and the two numbers set in the phone-book. If the OK symbol is replaced by an alarm icon it means that something is wrong or the connection is down. The page is not shown if the programmable output is set to 7 (see menu 3-3.10).

The 2 numbers are enabled to start/stop the engine, send messages to ask informations and receive the messages in case of alarm.

In the TE2010-GE it’s possible to change the parameters, the curve for all the instruments (oil pressure, engine temperature and fuel level) and visualize all the parameters and measures via PC. To do this, it’s necessary to install the TE2010 Monitor and connect via RS232 the board with the PC. The RS232 port of the TE2010-GE controller is in the back of the board, as you can see from the terminal board (chapter 1-2). The cable for this operation is a 9 poles female-female with crossed TX and RX, as shown below: FOR A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF THE SOFTWARE, SEE THE TE2010-MONITOR MANUAL After the start, the program shows the following screen:

Before starting the communication with your TE2010-GE you need to set the serial port available on the PC and the correct parameters of communication, that are the same parameters of the TE2010-GE. Set the communication parameters as in the example: Once you set correctly the communication port, pressing the “Start” button you begin the communication. If the instrument TE2010-GE responds correctly on display you can see the functioning parameters.

It’s possible to open a file created previously, clicking on “File” then “Open”, and selecting the desired file. Starts or stops the serial communication. When you see “Start” on the button, the communication has been interrupted and pressing the button you can start it. When you see “Stop” on the button the communication is active and pressing the button you stop it. If the communication works correctly the circle next to the “communication” inscription becomes alternately red and green, otherwise it’s only red. It permits to update the data in the “Write” boxes with the values read by the instrument. The selection will be automatically reset when the updating is finished. It is a counter of the errors in the serial communication. If the communication works correctly the counter is blocked, otherwise it increases by one every time that a communication error appears. The reset button resets the counter. It permits to send to the instruments the parameters in the “Write” boxes. At the end of the operations it’s possible to save the configuration in a file clicking on “File” then “Save” or “Save as”.

After you press the “Instruments calibration” button the following screen will open: Analog inputs calibration is possible with some calibration points for every input, from (X0,Y0) to (Xn,Yn). The maximum number of calibration points for every input is 6. Not used calibration points must be programmed to 0. The choice of these points is important because it determines the fitting with the real curve of the sensor. The sensors used for measurements convert a normal measure (as oil pressure, temperature, fuel, ecc…) in an electrical measurement (as resistance, current or voltage). It's always necessary as first calibration point set the minimum electrical value to be measured, and as last calibration point the maximum electrical value to be measured. For example, for resistive sensors, the first calibration point must be the point with the lowest resistance value that you want to set. In the upper part of the screen there are two boxes for the choice of the input type. It’s important to set correctly these parameters and not change them. In the TE2010-GE the settings must be the following: Analog input 0: 100 Ohm Analog input 1: 1 KOhm Analog input 2: 100 Ohm Analog input 3: Current input Instead of creating the setting of the curves, it’s possible to open a preset file (that you can find in the cd attached to the product) and modify the fields “unite of measure” and “calibration points”. To do this, click on “File” then “Open” and select the desired files.

To begin the trasfer of the file “.csv” (or “.txt”) you have to:

a) Enable the reception of the “.csv” files in the TE2010-GE instrument. You need to enter in the menu 3-5.1 and remain there. This way, the board is in listening position and can receive the configuration files from the PC.

b) Press the transmit CSV button. Then the transfer begins. The good performance of the transfer is confirmed by two elements:

a) The progress bar slowly turns blue. b) The text box on the right of the screen slowly fills up with the data that the TE2010-GE sends as

answer to the trasfer of the file. Once the operation is finished, this screen will appear: The calibration data can be modified and saved in a different “.csv” file. It’s also possible to exclude from the saving procedure the data of an analog input simply unchecking the check box “enable saving” associated with the analog input you want to exclude.

It’s possible, with TE2010 Monitor, to change all the parameters, including the programmed starts and stops. In the example of the following screen there are two programmed cycles, the first at 09:45 with duration of 2 hours, the second at 15:07 (03:07 pm) with duration of 5 hours, and these cycles work only on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Once you finished the setting in the “Write” box, you need to press the “Write” button to send them to your TE2010-GE controller. If the data exchange ends correctly, in the “Read” box you will see the same settings of the “Write” box.
