In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media production?
What are the typical conventions of a short
film?
1. 5- 10 minutes long
2. Limited characters
3. Limited locations4. Limited dialogue
5. Simple ides/narrative structure
6. Twist at the end
1. You do not want it too long because it would get boring and it is a SHORT film
2. Having to many character would confuse the audience and you need to introduce each character and in a short film you just do not have enough time for that
3/4. Having limited dialogue and locations doesn’t make it hard and confusing to follow
5. Having a simple idea makes it easier for the audience to understand the film and doesn’t make it too confusing.
6. The twist at the end helps break typical conventions making the audience excited and not bored of the same conventions
This is because

And finally a stylised photo
So.. Do I think that my media products developed or
challenged forms and conventions of real media products
My Short film• 5 minutes long
Had only two characters which was contrasting
We didn’t have any dialogue
We had a simple idea with a parallel narrative
• Limited locations which was set in an urban/ city location
It had a twist at the end
It showed their ordinary lifestyles
I think that my media products followed the conventions of real media products. This is because out short film follows the convention of a moralistic drama and a short film by lasting only 5 minutes, having limited characters and having a simple plot.
My poster follows the conventions of a film poster
ticking all the conventions boxes. It has a credit block
situated at the bottom on the poster, persuasive
language and rating stars at the top of the poster, the
main characters in the foreground and the main
location at the background. I feel I have made sure
that I made a poster that you can see at bus stops.
For my review I found it hard to emulate the style of
Little White Lies especially the language but I feel
that I have emulated it to the best of my ability and I
think that it would be a review that would be seen in
Little White Lies. It has a clear structure and clear use
of the unique rating system, my review has a stylised
photos, formal language and finally uses the
contrasting colours in a box of the title of the film,
director and the actors and finally the release date.
