Play the Game Weston Public School

NORTHERN NSW FUTSAL WHAT IS FUTSAL? Futsal is a format of five-a-side football (soccer) that is played extensively throughout the world. It is played on a court approx-imately the size of a basketball or netball court with a ball which is smaller and heavier than the outdoor football and has a re-duced bounce. The type of ball used forces a player to use their skill rather than the ball’s bounce to pro-pel it. As a small sided game, play-ers are constantly placed in situations where they must receive or play whilst under pressure or in confined spaces. Playing Futsal allows you to touch the ball nearly twelve times more than playing football. The game places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fit-ness. Futsal is a great skill developer, demanding quick reflexes, fast thinking, and pin-point passing. The speed of play is such that you are forced to make quicker technical and tactical deci-sions. Player Rego is $55 per player and is valid for 12 months, This includes a full playing strip –Shirt, shorts and socks, which you get to keep. THEME: Maths Buddies

On Friday, I had a maths buddy, her name was Bailey and she taught me about thou-sands.

We played games. I had to say the number before and the number after. I was really good at it!

WEEK 5 Focus:

Page 4: Weston Public School · Cyber Safety Presentation Thursday 27 Book Week Parade/Activities September Friday 4 Father’s Day Stall PBL Focus of the Week: Library/IT Week 6 2D 8 1/2C

2 Dangerously Awesome

In 2D we have been learning all about

fractions. A class member from 2D

brought in some home-grown oranges

and the class used these to learn how

to halve objects, make quarters and

eighths. The best part was we were

able to eat our fractions.

The last 5 weeks of Term 3 have gone by very quickly. Year 2 have been working very hard in all Key Learning Areas. In Term 2 the students interviewed Justin from Wakagetti Dance Company about Aboriginal dance and culture. Our newspaper article that 2D worked on together will be in the Newcastle Herald this Thursday, 20

th August.

In Writing we have been learning how to write an exposition. Our topic was ‘Why should children in Australian schools wear hats?’ We learnt how to write the introduction, body and conclusion, and what a time constraint was. A time constraint helps support our 3 good arguments that we had to come up with. Keep up the great work Year 2!

2D has been practising very hard for our item for the school assembly this week.

Don’t forget it is on Friday, 21st August at 1:30pm.
