WestJet History

In October, 2002, WestJet now operates 39 aircraft, with 35 in revenue service. (18 New Generation 737-700/800, and 17 737-200s), WestJet operates both domestically in Canada, and within

Continental North America on a charter basis. WestJet has 24 regular scheduled destinations, and will be operating to many

other charter destinations by December, 2003.

WestJet began operations in February of 1996, with three 737-200 Aircraft, and service to four

Canadian cities.

Currently, there are approximately 215 daily departures,

and an average OTP of 86% YTD.

On a per ASM basis, WestJet achieves approximately 30% in savings on our new Next-

Generation aircraft over the 737-200s in our fleet.

WestJet is growing at a rate of 50% YOY, and has firm order agreements to acquire a total of 40 737-700 aircraft, with options to acquire a

further 54 aircraft by year-end 2008. We are in the process of phasing out our 200 fleet.

Cities Served

• Block times at WestJet are continually being revised and analyzed, whether that be for taxi times, or seasonal averages.

• Each route is based on it’s stand-alone value and contribution to the network.

• We have dedicated working teams with action-oriented result that are dedicated to revising and

analyzing all schedule efficiencies and deficiencies.

Flite Trac Plot• All WestJet Airports and Facilities have access to

Flite Trac, and the associated reporting tools.

• With Flite Trac at all the Operational bases throughout the WestJet System, the ability

for all to up to the minute information.

• All aircraft movements, block times, schedule information, and payload

statistics easily communicated.

Centralized Load Plan• Since May, 2001, WestJet has done weight and

Balance for the 737-700 aircraft. This further reduces fuel burn due inefficient trim/stab settings

• Beginning in March 3rd, 2003, WestJet has also taken on the pre-planning of all WJ flights, throughout the system. This pre-planning has further reduced lost/damaged baggage,

and has clearly made an impact upon hub activity, (decreased turn times), when loading and unloading

aircraft.

• Beginning in November, 2002, WestJet has centralized both the Load Planning and Operations

Teams in the Operations Control area.

Centralized Operations

All communications between company/contracted personnel and the

aircraft is coordinated in one location, further reducing manpower and training costs .

Currently, Operations that has traditionally been located at airport locations is being restructured

to be located in a central location.

This centralization has enhanced all aspects of Airport coordination.

Crew Planning

• Currently, our pairing and block generation are done manually within the Mercury scheduling

system.

• As of June 2003, WestJet employs 356 pilots and 699 F.A.s.

• WestJet’s flight crew are non-unionized and are scheduled and paid by the block hour.

There is no credit system in use.

Crew Trac

Through the use of Crew Trac we are able to monitor crew movement and

ensure they are operating in accordance with governing rules.

In the event of irregular operations, modifications can be made to pairings

with relative ease, allowing the accurate tracking of crew, in even the most

trying situations.

Crew Trac is updated from the plot, making the monitoring of duty day and crew rest issues a simple and

accurate task.

ACARSACARS is actively used by all

Operational Teams. From Dispatch to Crew Scheduling, direct

communications have resulted in far more effective communications, in a

timely manner.Information such as aircraft times, fuel, position reporting, and text messaging are only some of the uses that WestJet

uses in regards to ACARs.

With efficiencies such as indicated, WestJet has one of the lowest employees to

aircraft ratios in the industry.

Aircraft Simulators

• WestJet currently has two simulators, (one 737-700 and one 737-200), and

will have another 700 simulator online by the end of the year.

• When Company Training is not booked, available time is sold to

other Airlines.
