Dual Pot Sand Filter (Type A) Product Code | DSF-A

Well Testing | Sand Management

The Hunting Dual Pot Sand Filters are available in a broad range of sizes and configurations, up to 20,000psi WP. These products are in service globally with major production testing companies.

The principle of sand filtering is well understood, with the minimum size of the separated sand particles determined by the slot size in the sand filter in each pot which are available in a range from 100 to 800 microns. Continuous operation is achieved by switching the flow between the two pots and draining the collected sand from the bottom of the pot that is isolated from the flow.

The Type A Sand Filter is configured for the well to flow from the inside of the filter and the sand to collect therein. The sand can be removed with the filter or purged with water jets.

Optional equipment includes a sand flushing system using pressurized water injection through nozzles mounted on the pot vessel outside diameter and a sandbox for collection of the solids slurry exiting the 2” diameter drain valve.

For technical information see page 36

Cyclonic Wellhead Desander Product Code | CWD

Cyclonic de-sanders have a high efficiency of separation at high flow-rates with minimal pressure drop and can handle both a wider range of particle sizes and larger volumes of solids when compared to sand filters.

The cyclonic separator element is engineered from a highly wear-resistant alloy, is designed to be the only component potentially exposed to erosion and is simple to replace during operations if required.

Interchangeable Wellhead DesanderProduct Code | IWD

Cyclonic de-sanders have a high efficiency of separation at high flow-rates with minimal pressure drop and can handle both a wider range of particle sizes and larger volumes of solids when compared to sand filters.

The cyclonic and sand filter separation techniques are considered complimentary and present a challenge to the well test service company in making an investment decision on one technique or the other without prior knowledge of the well conditions.

The Hunting Interchangeable Wellhead Desander features a dual pot system with interchangeable cyclone separators and sand filters offering the unique benefit of system configuration with both techniques to cover a wider range of well conditions from a single package.

The Hunting cyclonic technology has been independently flow loop tested to verify solids separation performance.

The Hunting Cyclonic Desander Efficiency Calculator is an excel based software tool designed to aid our customers in selecting the most appropriate wellhead desanding method for their well test application.

The tool is based on published correlations and has been verified against both a CFD simulation of the Hunting cyclone and 3rd party flow loop tests.

The efficiency calculator allows our customers to run multiple scenarios varying inputs such as oil and gas flow rates, fluid properties and sand properties in order to evaluate their impact on solids separation performance.

Choke Manifolds Product Code | WCM

Hunting can engineer, design and manufacture any choke manifold to the customer’s specific need’s including multiple valve and choke configurations, incorporating single or double pressure barrier philosophy and according to various industry-standard pressure and temperature ratings, pipe diameters and service requirements.

The Hunting standard choke manifold has three flow paths through:

• A fixed choke that provides accurate flow control for flow rate measurement under stable conditions.

• An adjustable choke used during well clean-up or drawdown operations until a stable flow condition has been achieved.

• A full-bore bypass that can be used when choking downstream at the heater or in open-flow conditions.

For technical information see page 42

The Choke Manifold is the primary well pressure and flow control package used during both offshore and onshore well testing, frac flow-back, well clean-up and early production operations.

Three flow paths through either a fixed or adjustable choke box or the full-bore bypass

Low-torque metal-to-metal sealing on all gate valves

Incorporates pressure ports and thermo-wells both upstream and downstream of the chokes

Isolation valves fitted both upstream and downstream of the chokes

Integral forklift pockets and four-point lifting sling provide safe handling options

Controls and reduces well pressure upstream of process equipment

Allows rapid fixed choke change-outs while the well remains flowing

Facilitates fluid sampling and both wellhead pressure and temperature measurement

Maximum operational flexibility with three flow-paths

Wellhead Plug CatcherProduct Code | WPC

It is positioned upstream of the wellhead sand separator or choke manifold to avoid damage and plugging of the downstream process.

The Hunting Plug Catcher consists of a horizontal mounted manifold with a catcher chamber with an internal perforated pipe to collect debris and a by pass line to allow the screen to be isolated, de-pressurised and the debris to be collected and measured as required. The perforating pipe is available in several sizes depending on the type of well debris to be removed. The drain feature allows debris such as frac balls to be removed without removing the perforated pipe.

Hunting plug catchers are available in a range of sizes, working pressures and configurations and can be customized to the clients’ requirements including dual catcher line designs to allow continuous debris removal and various sizes of perforated pipes.

For technical information see page 43
