On this field trip, youwill view theplay “BeyondSacred:VoicesofMuslimIdentity”andexploretheways our views of culture are important as theworld changes and globalization influencesindividuals. You will view interview-basedtheater, a brand of theater that captures the rawstoriesofindividualsandtheirexperiences. Afterthe play, you will have the opportunity to shareyourownviews,thoughts,andexperiences.

At the performance, you will hear voices that express what it is like to be anoutsider, consider the views of those who are seldom heard, and consider howcommunicationcanhelpusunderstandtheexperienceofothersintheUSandworldtoday.WhiletheplaycentersontheexperiencesofMuslimsinNewYorkCitypost-9/11, its overarching goal is to recognize that our own perspective and actionsshapesrelationships,experiences,andthewaysthatpeopleperceivethosetheydonotknowpersonally.Duringthistrip,youwillviewaplay,eatlunch,andengagewithclassmatesandhighschoolstudentsfromotherschools.Pleaseseetheattachedpagesfortripdetails,tourschedule,chaperonegroups,andrestaurantmap.
