What was once a seed orchard is now a unique place to discover Oregon’s heritage! Whether hiking, biking or horseback riding along the trails that criss-cross the landscape, or paddling along the Applegate River, the Douglas-Fir stands, whose seeds were once used for reforestation, tell the unique story of Oregon’s timber history.
WELCOME TO THE PROVOLT RECREATION SITE!
DAY USE ONLY Open from sunrise to sunset, and hours vary depending on season.
HOST To assist visitors, there is a volunteer host at the site.
Pets are ALLOWED but must be LEASHED.
NO drinking water Please bring your own water.
respect neighbors Visitors are asked to respect private property boundaries surrounding the area and avoid areas that indicate “Restoration in Progress.”
restrictions This area is closed to campfires and shooting.
The Provolt Recreation Site is located at 14171 Williams HWY, 15 miles southeast of Grants Pass, Oregon. There is public access to the land between Williams Creek, Applegate River, and HWY 238
Near the Provolt are the Williams Creek and Applegate River that are ideal for spawning fish like Coho and Chinook salmon. Pacific Lamprey can also be found in the area.
