ATTENDANCE
• Attendance is the number one
predictor of a student’s success in
school.
• Under Every Student Succeeds Act
and the Pennsylvania School Code,
Mt. Lebanon School District is
responsible for enforcing the
compulsory school attendance law
Tardiness
• Excused (note needed)
• Unexcused
● 3 “free” unexcused
● 4th – after school detention
• Each student is required to submit a
written excuse to homeroom teacher
within 10 days of his/her return or the
absence is illegal.
● To verify that the excuse has been
received, contact your child’s
homeroom teacher via e-mail.

STUDENT ABSENCES
PRE-APPROVED ABSENCES
● Only 5 days will be approved
● Will not be approved during standardized
testing
● Pre-approved absence forms are available in
the Attendance Office and must be submitted
five days prior to the trip.
EARLY DISMISSALS
● Parents are encouraged
to schedule appointments
before or after school
hours.
● Students must have a
written excuse on the day
that they wish to be
excused.

Health Concerns
• Contact nurse for serious or chronic health
problems
• Parent to complete written emergency
plan (will be provided by health office)
• Parent to provide emergency medication
• Information/plan shared with appropriate
school personnel as needed
Recommendations from the Health
Office
• Keep students home when contagious
• Pick up students within 30 minutes of notification
of illness
• Review and follow medication policy
• Provide documentation of Tdap and meningitis
vaccines as early as possible
• Notify health office of pertinent health
information and changes.
Lunch in the JMS Cafeteria
• Eat with you grade level (both teams)
– 6th Grade – 11:20 - 11:50
– 7th Grade – 12:07 - 12:37
– 8th Grade – 12:54 – 1:24
• No assigned seats
• Lunch supervisors will call each table to go up to
lunch line and will also dismiss students when they
have adequately cleaned their area.
• If you’re nervous about the lunch line, pack your
lunch the first few days.
