Have to train people? Want to transfer technology? Seeking a way to disseminate infor- mation that can be accessed and searched quickly? Create a community in the Hub and then invite others to join you there. Create as many communities as you would like — it only takes minutes for you to have one up and running. Watch videos. The Knowledge Hub offers video streaming for any videos your commu- nity utilizes. Upload videos of less than 2GB to your community and members will be able to watch the videos from their computers with no need to download them. Consider the possibilities this capability offers for training and educational purposes for your community. Make connections. Built into the Hub are network analytics that will take your profile information and use it to connect you to others who share like interests. When new people join the Hub, if he or she share similar experiences, they will be recommended to you. The Hub will also seek out communities that may interest you. Discuss with forums. Through the use of forums, your community can quickly discuss and find answers to com- mon problems. Better yet, the forums are archived and searchable, so no more answering the same question over and over. You can also attach documents to posts for easier reference. Manage files. Need to share documents with your team? Upload it to the file manager and those documents are available immediately. Create your own folder structures to organize your documents. Community members now have the information they need to collaborate all in one place. See updates. See what else is happening in the Hub through the Updates wall. Watch as new members join, see what content is being uploaded to communities, take note of forums posts being discussed, and see when new communi- ties come online. Search. The Hub utilizes Google Search technology to combine information across usace.army.mil for quick and easy access. Use our search to find Corps publications, new communities, new documents, forum posts or members. Subscribe. Subscribe from the community level to receive a single daily roll-up report of community activity; and sub- scribe at any level of a community forum to receive instant email notification for updates to your selected discussion. Provide external links. Provide your community access to any other websites through external links. You won’t even have to leave your community to view them. Chat. If you see any of your associates are online, you can initiate an individual chat with them. Communities also have the ability to start a chat in which all community members can join in and collaborate in real time. View visualizations. The Knowledge Hub’s mapping tab engages Google Maps to visually see where other members of your community are located. Download the Google Earth plug-in to open up an entire world dedicated to visualizing data through the Corps’ own Google Earth Enterprise server. Place any type of GIS data as an overlay for your commu- nity to view and reach decisions. Place historical photos on overlays to show morphological changes. Connect to outside sources such as NOAA to see up-to-date data. Know it’s secure. The Hub is located behind the .mil firewall on servers owned by the Corps of Engineers.
