There's a prayer on my lips that the
world cannot hear —
Lord, hear our prayer.
There's a prayer in my mind that
my lips cannot speak —
Lord, hear our prayer.
There's a prayer in my heart that
my mind cannot form —
Lord, hear our prayer.
The power of prayer is well-known. If
you or an immediate family member are
in need of extra prayers, please contact
the parish office or email us at
[email protected] to be placed on the
prayer request list.
Please note that names will be
removed from the prayer list after 30
days unless we hear from you other-
wise.
Assist our Future Priests
with Seminarian Aid Mass Cards We invite you to partici-
pate in the Seminarian Aid
Mass Card Program in sup-
port of our future priests.
You can request a Mass or
Masses for your loved
ones. Your loved ones will be enrolled in
a year’s worth of Masses celebrated by
the Archbishop or his designee.
Mass cards are perfect for all occasions:
to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays,
to say “thank you” or “just thinking about
you” and to remember the deceased.
Your donated Mass stipend will go di-
rectly into a fund to defray the education-
al costs of the men currently studying to
become priests, estimated at approximate-
ly $30,000 per year per Seminarian.
Intention envelopes and cards may be
obtained in either parish office during
regular business hours.
Next Sunday’s Readings Pastoral Items

Paul Murphy † Funeral Mass at SJ Friday,

Paul Gagnon † Funeral Mass at SJ Monday,
May 15th at 11:00AM preceded by the ROSARY at 10:30AM
MAY THEY REST IN PEACE
THIS WEEK’S: Fourth Sunday of Easter
First Reading —
(Acts of the Apostles 2:14,36-41)
Responsorial Psalm — (Psalm 23)
Second Reading — (1 Peter 2:20-25)
Gospel — (John 10:1-10)
NEXT WEEK’S: Fourth Sunday of Easter
First Reading— “As the number of disciples
continued to grow”, various needs and even
conflicts sometimes called for restructuring of
ministries. The Greek disciples complain that
their widows are not being cared for “in the
daily distribution” of food.
“So the Twelve” looked for a new group of
leaders among the Hellenists who will carry out
this ministry, allowing the Twelve to continue
preaching the Gospel. To this day, we distin-
guish “Mary” and “Martha” spirituality: the first
is more contemplative and inner-focused, the
second more outward focused and service-
oriented. The Apostles take the Mary ap-
proach and relegate the Martha ministry to
seven men who will be ordained deacons and
assigned the responsibility of caring for the
physical needs of community members.
(Acts of the Apostles 6:1-7)
Responsorial Psalm—“Lord, let your
mercy be on us, as we place our trust in
you.” (Psalm 33)
Second Reading— This reading reminds
those who are Baptized into Christ that He is
the sure foundation of their lives of faith; He
too was rejected by humans but chosen by God
for the work of salvation. (1 Peter 2:4-9)
Gospel— Jesus makes remarkable and
unique assertions about His identity when
Thomas explains “how can we know the Way?”
Jesus has not come to show us the way, but to
be the Way. He did not come to teach the
truth but to be Truth. He does not just give
life, He is Life. (John 14:1-12)

Annual Catholic Appeal 2017 The Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) has begun. The sup-
port of every parish is crucial to the success of the Archdi-
ocese and its many ministries and services. Each parish
has been assigned a goal for this year’s campaign:
QA—$61,007 & SJ—$66,841 Beginning next month, Fr. Robb & Fr. Leonardo will pre-
sent their personal appeal in both parishes at the weekend
Masses.
Thank you for your support!

4th & 5th Grade News
For Lent, Grades 4 and 5 learned the connection between the Passover of the Old Testament and the Last Sup-per of the New Testament. We noticed that some of the prayers from the time of Moses are the same as in our Mass today. In the spirit of the season of Easter, two 4th graders, Abby Kimball and Jessica Jackson, wrote a play about the Resurrection of Jesus. They will have the 5th graders audition for parts, then perform it for younger grades.
In math we have spent time learning how to plot ordered pairs on a grid. Next we used the x and y axis to pre-pare a line graph. We also are working toward mastery of numerical patterns in tables and charts. When we com-plete these challenges, we will begin learning to convert units of measure.
Our room has been transformed into a rain forest with cougars, monkeys, butterflies and snakes. Vines hang from the ceiling with Parrots, Macaws and Cockatoos on them. Each week students add new creatures. Many students have prepared Powerpoints or Google slides to share knowledge with classmates. Our goal is to help preserve the rain forests, as well as the Mangrove swamps which shelter many fish and birds. Mr. Quarto, a world ex-pert on Mangroves, visited our class-room with a presentation on the great value of Mangroves and how to pre-serve them. It was an excellent presen-tation and inspired students to enter an art contest on Mangroves.

Respect Life Group Spiritual Adoption Program
MONTH 3: Developing Baby—“I can suck my thumb!” Your baby is quite active in the womb now— although the mother won’t feel her baby for another couple of months. If the moth-er’s womb had a window, you could watch your spiritually adopted baby squint, swallow
and move their tongue. The baby can make a tight fist if you touch their palm. The baby is breathing am-niotic fluid which continues until birth, although the baby does obtain the oxygen it needs through the umbilical cord. The baby you are praying for weighs one ounce.
