Dear Parishioners,
It seems that I was just wishing that everyone would
have a blessed Summer and now Summer is coming to
at least an unofficial end next weekend. I want to wish
all those who are either entering or returning to an
educational or technical training program etc. much
success in the school year to come. I pray that you will
open your hearts to receive all the knowledge and
wisdom that is sent your way. I pray that all teachers,
staff and volunteers who in anyway impact the handing
on of knowledge may do so with inspiration and
enthusiasm each and every day. May the Academic
Year be one of blessing and satisfaction for all.
May the Lord continue to shower His Graces and
Blessings on you and your loved ones in the week to
come.
Fr. George

Ruego que abra sus corazones para recibir todo el
conocimiento y sabiduría que el manejo en el
conocimiento puede hacer con la inspiración y el

FATIMA FACTS: EPILOGUE Francisco (born on June 11, 1908) died at home on
April 4, 1919, after suffering for months from the
influenza. Jacinta (born on March 11, 1910) was also a
victim of the 1918 influenza epidemic but was sent to
the hospital having developed pneumonia and
tuberculosis; she died alone on February 20, 1920. Her
face was found incorrupt when her body was exhumed
in both 1935 and 1951. However, Francisco had
decomposed. Pope John Paul II declared Francisco and
Jacinta “Venerable” in 1989 and then declared them
“Blessed” on May 13, 2000. They were canonized
“Saints” by Pope Francis on May 13, 2017.
Lucia (born on March 28, 1907) entered the Sisters of
St. Dorothy in Tui, Spain in 1925 but received papal
permission in 1946 to enter the Convent of the
Carmelite Sisters of Coimbra in Portugal, taking the
name Sister Maria Lucia of Jesus and the Immaculate
Heart. She had been deaf, blind, and ailing for several
years before her death on February 13, 2005. On
February 13, 2017, she received the title “Servant of
God” from Pope Francis, which is the first major step
towards canonization. The bodies of Lucia, Francisco
and Jacinta are buried in the Basilica at Fatima,
Portugal.
The Apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima with their
profound message of prayer and penance were declared
“worthy of credence” by the Catholic Church on
October 13, 1930. We, at Our Lady of Fatima, a parish
under her patronage, should certainly be the first to
spread her Message of Prayer and Penance!
