I Must Go Over to Look at This Remarkable Sight – In today’s first reading, Moses, while tending the

flocks of his father-in-law, happens upon a bush which is burning, but which is not consumed. Moses’ reaction is to “go over to look at this remarkable sight, which he does. However, the Lord, in speaking from the burning bush, wants him to do more

than look. Instead, God reveals himself to Moses and calls Moses to lead His people out of slavery in Egypt. While Moses has some reservations, he says yes to God and works to lead his people to freedom. Like Moses, the Lord wants us to do more than look at Him or at His Church. The Lord wants us to be engaged with Him. Faith is not a passive en-deavor. Faith is an active engagement with God in the com-munity of the Church. It is easy to look at the Church and say, “I like this” or, “I do not like that” and then do nothing about it. It takes effort to get involved to be an instrument of Jesus’ life in the Church. As we continue our Lenten journey may we be renewed not only to see God better, but to em-brace most fully his will.

Please keep her in your prayers. Also, if you or someone you know would like a communion visit from a Eucharistic Minister, please call the parish office and we will get you on the schedule.

Mark Your Calendar– Sunday March 31st at 9:00AM will be our next Youth Mass. The CCD students will participate in the celebration of the Eucharist as only they can. Our CCD coordinator, Sue Bauer, will be visiting all classes to ask for volunteers. The kids really do a won-derful job. The students will serve as greeters, readers, ush-ers, gift bearers, and maybe even help Larry out with songs of praise and worship!

PARENTS OF 7-12 GRADE CCD STUDENTS- Our parish grouping has a very active youth group. The Youth Minister, Danielle Simoni works hard to schedule outreach and events for students in grades 7-12. Please encourage your sons/daughters to participate in the many activities planned. These young men and women are the future of the Church! Their involvement will not only enhance their faith, but will also help the Church continue its Mission.

MARK THE DATE– No CCD on Easter Sunday, April 21. Last day of class is April 28th. Confirmation will take place at Ss. Peter and Paul on Monday, April 29. First Communion on Sunday May 5th at the 9:00 Mass.

Dear Parishioners,

Several weeks back, Fr. Paul and I attended a pres-entation on safety for churches. While the information was very good, it presents some unique challenges for Catholic churches and how we gather to worship God. We are won-dering if there is anyone who shares these safety concerns and might be willing to help develop some strategies and procedures for all four of our churches. Call me, if inter-ested. Also looking far ahead, Sunday, September 1 will be OUR Parish Picnic, a four parish picnic, at Brady’s Run Park. Details will follow but mark your calendars. Week three of Lent starts today. If you find your-self stumbling in your Lenten resolutions, don’t give up. Re-member Jesus fell on His way to Calvary. Ask for His strength and compassion. Pick yourself up and keep going. Stations of the Cross are a powerful Lenten prayer. We have lots of opportunities: 4:00 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul, Beaver; 6:30 p.m. at Holy Family, New Brighton; 7:30 p.m. at St. Cecilia, Rochester and St. Felix, Freedom. There is also a children’s version at Saints Peter and Paul at 2:00 p.m. (School children are the leaders). I am happy to share with you that we have hired a Facilities Manager for our four parishes. Bruce Whipple is his name. He has an extensive background in construction and maintenance. He is also certified as a teacher and has been doing substitute work. Bruce and his wife live outside of Freedom. He will be starting as soon as his clearances and papers are in order. We owe thanks to the interviewing team: Bill Anzalone, Rob Dunbar, Al Gallo, Fr. Paul and Ethan Russell. CONFESSIONS THIS WEEK: Wednesday – March 27 @ St. Cecilia, 6:00-6:45 pm; Saturday – March 30 @ Saints Peter and Paul @ 12 noon; St. Felix @ 12:00 noon and Holy Family @3:00 p.m.

God Bless, Fr. Bob
