STRATEGIC IMPROVEMENT PLAN (SIP) 2021-2024
NSW DoE schools have now commenced the new planning cycle for School Improvement. Each school has undergone rigorous evaluation and planning to develop new Strategic Directions.
Condobolin Public School’s 3 Strategic Directions (SD) are:
1. Student growth and attainment. (Literacy and Numeracy achievement—this is the same acrossall schools)
2. High impact teaching practice. (student growth in learning )
3. High expectations culture to maximise student learning and wellbeing.(attendance & wellbeing)
Principal’s Message Continued:
PBL FOCUS: Attendance
One of the targets for the SIP, is to have an increased percentage of students attending school more than 90% of the time . We understand that at times things happen for students to be away like being sick or unexpected events happen, all absences need to be explained and communicated as soon as possible with the school. If your child is absent We Notice, We Care and We Act .
We Notice: classroom teachers mark the roll daily and absent notes are justified or unjustified by Mrs Neilsen, in line with NSW DoE requirements for attendance. Good attendance is celebrated.
We Care: a staff member will make contact with home if there is no explanation for an absence or it has been 2 days in a row.
We Act: conversations are had with families to provide support in improving attendance at a school level, DoE Home School Liaison Officers engage with critically low attendance and an Attendance team meets weekly.
Student learning and wellbeing will improve with regular attendance and with families working together
with staff to overcome any barriers.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Jessica Neilsen
Good attendance, that is, attendance that is 90% or higher and all absences are justified is celebrated by a:
Prize draw for a canteen voucher each term per class
PBL & Attendance excursion each semester which celebrates positive behaviour and attendance
Principal Award for individual students acknowledging their 90% or above attendance and for students
who have shown improvement from Term to Term (starting Term 2, 2021)

Library Happenings Term 2 Week 3
Overdue Books: Many students have books showing up as ‘overdue’ when they come to borrow books. Can I kindly ask parents and carers to help their children check at home for any school library books before I send home ‘overdue’ notices in a couple of weeks. Anyone returning overdue books will receive ‘good ones’ to count towards their PBL Blue awards no matter how long they’ve had them.
National Simultaneous Storytelling: on Wednesday 19th May at 11am students will have the opportunity to take part in a national story telling session with over 1 million children across Australia & New Zealand. The book being read is “Give Me Some Space” by Philip Bunting will be read by an astronaut from the International Space Station.
Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC): I would like to see some students from stages 2 & 3 take part in this year’s PRC challenge so as an incentive any student who completes the challenge by end of August will go into a draw to win 1 of 6 $15 vouchers. Students in 3-6 need to read 15 books from the PRC book list plus 5 free choice books. That’s 20 books in total. There are 1000’s of books on both the stage 2 stage 3 lists to choose from. These lists are available once students have registered. Students can register online:
https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/studentExperience.html
using their school login details. I am happy to help any student with registering and logging the books read, in the library during any at any lunch or recess break or in their class library session. The challenge started in March so any books read since then can be added to their Book Log.
Book Fair: Our first book fair for 2021 will be held in Week 8 this term. Students will view the books during week 7/8 to write their ‘wish list’. Books will be purchased on Friday 4th June.
# If you have any questions about anything to do with the library please contact me through the school office.

Lunch time fitness groups Last term, students started attending the Willow Bend Sports Centre at lunch time for group fitness. These sessions proved very successful in developing students strength, fitness, resilience and self-confidence. Staff are very proud of the goals students achieved in Term 1 at the gym. The timetable is as follows: Stage 2 girls Tuesday with Miss Norrie, Stage 3 girls Wednesday with Miss Norrie and Stage 2 and Stage 3 boys with Mr C on Thursdays.
Netball Gala Day In Week 10 of Term 1, Mrs Cronje and Miss Norrie took 60 Strong, Smart and Proud
students to Parkes for the Netball NSW Gala Day. Students played a number of
non-competitive games on the day, building their skills and teamwork as the day pro-
gressed. Students had a lot of fun! Multiple staff from other schools spoke to Mrs Cronje
and Miss Norrie about how amazing our students were and particularly about how they
are great sports. Great job to all students involved!
Stage 2 visited the Water and Birds
Art exhibition and enjoyed the talk
given by conservationist and
wildlife photographer Mr Warren
Chad.
MCP harvested carrots from the garden last month during garden club and Skylah and Mrs Dargan took them around and shared them with some other classes.
CPS “Speak Up’ public speaking competition is on this Thursday with over 20 students
participating. Stage 3 will speak at 1pm and Stage 2 at 2pm. Adjudicators for the event
will be Mrs Judy Blatman and Mrs Heather Blackley. Parents and family members of
participating students are invited to come and watch the event held in the school hall
and follow Covid safe protocols.
HEALTHY LUNCH
Due to student allergies and the risk of anaphylaxis we kindly
ask that parents and carers do not send peanut or nut based
products to school. Alternate suggestions to peanut butter or
Nutella include cheese and vegemite or tomato and lettuce or
the ever popular Devon and sauce. Ideas can be found at
