WEEK BEGINNING SUNDAY 7th June 2020 – Trinity Sunday Dear All, I have now lost track of time and no idea what week into lock down we are in! but I do hope that you are doing better… I think we started lock down sometime in Lent and we have journeyed through Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Easter, Ascension Day and Pentecost. This Sunday is Trinity Sunday. Although the word Trinity is not mentioned in the bible, the three persons of the Trinity – Father God, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit are found throughout and in Matthew’s great commission (28:19), Jesus says ‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Well, currently we can’t exactly ‘go’ nor ‘baptise’ (although I was sent a photo of a Priest baptising with a water pistol)… but we certainly can and should share the good news of the Gospel, with those around us through words, prayers and actions. I am struck by how small our world has become, how connected we are with the ability to see through the windows of the media to what is happening if different places around the globe. This gives us the opportunity to feel connected and pray for tragedies happening in distant countries and as many people have, even have a voice. But we can also feel overwhelmed by so much so that we feel powerless, stuck and fearful. That is natural, for we can’t do these things in our own strength. We pray to the Spirit to soften our hearts and guide our response. Last week, The Archbishops, Matt Redman, The Pope and leaders from other denominations took part in a Pentecost Service you can find on the Church of England website. Bishop Stephen also took a virtual communion service in the Cathedral (Ely Website). Have a good week and stay safe, Love Sue x Please pray for Derek, Graham has come home from hospital but still very poorly and all those who are sick. Margaret had a fall but at home and doing well. A sending out prayer for children

Jesus said, go and make disciples. With our friends, we are friends of Jesus; with our families, we are friends of Jesus; at school, we are friends of Jesus; everywhere we go, we are friends of Jesus. Jesus, give us actions and words that show others we are your friends. Amen.

Verse 2 of a reflection based on the beatitudes written very recently by Paul Bridges (thanks to Colin and Margaret Hodson). When Jesus saw people locked down in their houses, and unable to walk through the streets, he spoke to them, saying: Blessed are those who mourn And blessed are those who mourn because they could not say goodbye, could not hold hands, could not join with family and friends to pay their respects.

v Blessed are those who take the place of family at the moment of passing.

v Blessed are those who mourn for the routine and ways of living that gave their life meaning.

v Blessed are those who mourn for their jobs, or businesses, their employees and livelihoods.

v Blessed are those who mourn. v You are of heaven and Jesus blesses you.

Blessedarethosewhomournfortheywillbecomforted.Matthew5:4

A‘haveago’habit:Sitdown• Picture being in that crowd and Jesus catching your

eye, knowing your feelings and circumstances and saying straight to you “you are blessed”.

• Have a go at breathing in the word “blessed”. Repeat it slowly.

• Look at Psalm 40…a bad day, a deep hole? God lifts you, God sets your feet on a rock, God puts a song in your heart...
