Message from the Principal

Staff Passing Mr Will McAuliffe passed away last night after a long and courageous battle with brain tumours. Will was a much loved and valued member of our team and was always willing to assist students in the classroom, on the oval during recess and lunch breaks, on excursions or during extra-curricular activities such as BroSpeak or Boy’s Group. Will played a vital role in so many students’ development over the 4 years he was employed at DNPS and will be missed terribly by all. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family who have been by his side every step on the way. Rest in peace Will.

Long Weekend I trust everyone enjoyed the Long weekend and took the time to freshen up, relax with family and friends and enjoy the lovely winter weather. It’s a great opportunity to reflect on what has happened in the first 8 weeks of term, recharge and look forward to the last 2 weeks of Term 2.

Staff Development Days Don’t forget that next Thursday and Friday, 24th and 25th June, staff will be completing 2 days of Professional Learning aimed at increasing our knowledge of AVID (if you want to know more about this ask your child’s teacher, particularly a Stage 2 or 3 teacher). This means that there will be no school on these days but school will recommence on the first Monday back of Term 3 for staff and students.

Semester 1 Reports These have all been completed by classroom teachers and handed to me for a final read last Friday. I’m in the progress of reading them all and then signing off on them so hopefully they will be sent home this Friday. Parent/teacher interviews will be conducted

PRC continues... NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is encouraging school students to find the same joy in books that she has had since she was a child. "It's important for children to discover what books have to offer because we know a passion for learn-ing will set them up for the future," Ms Berejiklian said. "The great thing about books is they cover just about any issue or story you can imagine." The challenge is not a competition, but a way to foster a love of reading for pleasure. So Read, Read, Read. Challenge doesn't end until August. From the Lady in the Library,

Teddy Bear Hospital

The Kinder students had a fun morning when the doctors from the Teddy Bear Hospital visited our school. The children checked the Teddies hearing, eyes and even their heartbeats. They bandaged heads and broken limbs.

Kinder also learned the importance of personal hygiene, brushing teeth, hand washing and physical fitness.
