Dear Parent/Carer

Thank you for all your continued support over the past few months on what has been a difficult few weeks for all. I have been blown away by the quality of application, work and dedication by our pupils and staff in ensuring that our quality of Education has been maintained and again the standard of work have been exemplary. As we move now back into our reopening plan which will start on Monday 8th March with our Lateral Flow tests for all pupils with consent we will see the gradual return of all of our pupils and get our school community settled and back to business. Please do keep in touch and let us know of any concerns you may have and if you feel that your child may require additional support so we can ensure the smoothest transition back as possible. We look forward to seeing everyone back in again next week, we have missed all of our students and are excited for the final part of the spring and summer term ahead, Best wishes Mrs A. "Welcome back Year 11!

This is our first week back in school and we are all very happy to see and teach you face to face! There have been a number of communications sent home regarding your return to school this week. Please be assured that we have sufficient procedures in place to keep you all safe in school. Just a polite reminder that it is compulsory to wear a facemask inside the school building at all times; this includes your classrooms.

A special mention to Destiny C for winning the half term superstar, it was a very exciting time playing The Wheel of Fortune! Also, congratulations to Romany S, Tashin H and Griffin W for winning the 100% attendance prize last week. We will still be running these rewards throughout the half term.

Hello, My name is Martin Vose and I chair the ambassadors group at E-ACT Royton & Crompton Academy. In my paid working capacity I am Head Of Community at Oldham Athletic Community Trust, with the two roles providing a great opportunity to work collaboratively to benefit the academy and it`s local community. As an ambassadors group it is our responsibility to support the academy, working towards achieving three key aims. Our aims for this year are: - Improving literacy amongst year 7 pupils.- Improving the perception of the academy amongst the local community.- Improving community links So far during this school year OACT and the academy have worked on a number of projects, all linking to the three strategical objectives of the ambassador group: - Provided matchday programmes for year 7 students to read through. Programmes were accompanied by a quiz, with the answers all contained within the programme.- Linked to this project was a digital player visit by Oldham Athletic forward Bobby Grant. Bobby met with a group of year 7 students, taking the time to answer questions around sport, school and anything else the students wanted to ask. We even got to see the player try his hand at the “floss”.- We worked with the academy pre-Christmas to distribute 25 food parcels to families in need, this formed part of a huge food collection initiative which was led by the academy.- Worked together through the “Never Alone” initiative, which aims to reduce social isolation for elderly residents during the ongoing lockdown. Students at the academy have taken time to write letters and messages, which will be included within an activity pack and distributed to local elderly residents.- We will also be working with the academy through our NCS project, which is aimed specifically at those within year 11. More information will be sent to students on this in the coming weeks. We find ourselves in Week 5 of the third national lockdown. As educators, parents and professionals, we’re experiencing huge change and uncertainty at the moment. However, the importance of education remains consistent. Pupils’ experiences of the pandemic will be very varied. Some, despite restrictions, will feel safe and mostly enjoy their time. For others, it will be challenging or even traumatic. Please know, we are still here to support your children, whether they are accessing their education online or in school. We would like to thank you for ensuring that our students are accessing their learning online and encouraging them to do this. National Careers Week & World Book day: There are lots of exciting jobs in publishing and we’re going to highlight some of them in our ‘What’s Your Story’ competition which will take place in KS3 English lessons. We want pupils to think about who has been helping people to be happy, healthy and safe in the past 12 months and use that as inspiration for a short story & book cover. 1st place – Kindle 2nd place - £10 voucher 3rd place - £5 voucher

Each KS3 class now has its own book club running and pupils will spend time on WBD discussing their reading.
