This Week in Grade 8Welcome back! I hope everyone ha
a relaxing vacation. Everyone is
getting back into the swing of the
school routine now!
ENGLISH
This week the focus inEnglish class was on poetryand choosing a poet orsongwriter for theirperformance task. They willbe analyzing a song or poemand identifying how it is‘Transformational’. This is along term project and will beworked on over the next fewweeks.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Students continued workingon their maps of the MiddleEast and North Africa. Aswell, they have begundiscussing the new unit(Transformation) specificallylooking at Revolutions and
how they change societiesand governments. Theywere introduced to the 4Stages of Revolution.
Next week, either Mondayor Tuesday (depending onclass block) students willhave a Map Quiz on theMiddle East/North Africa.
SCIENCE
The Transformation unitbegan this week in Scienceas well. Students will belooking at simple machines,participating in labexperiments - building apendulum, collecting data,etc.
MATH
The Geometry unitcontinued this week withthe focus on lines, rays,segments and planes -
analyzing how theyintersect with one anotherin various situations.
